Chris LeDoux (search), a world champion bareback rider who parlayed songs about cowboys he knew on the rodeo circuit into a successful country music career, died Wednesday from complications of liver cancer. He was 56. Compare and Contrast NEW YORK — Another day, another feud for 50 Cent (search). This time, he's beefing with his own protege, the best-selling rapper The Game (search). Actually, make that former protege. In an interview on hip-hop radio station Hot 97 (search) Monday night, 50 announced that he was kicking The Game out of his G-Unit clique because of disloyalty — for refusing to take 50's side in his latest battles with high-profile rappers. Freeps this is just some late night thoughts on the state of the union. I've been a rocker musically with a blues side, Now I'm country because that music is based in loving your God, your country, your wife and your life and that's where I am in my life. The contrast between the life of Chris LaDoux and this dumb punk 50 cent is stark and instructive. I'm so sick of these bottom feeders getting press and props for cold blooded thuggery.

This long haired redneck grieves for the loss of a good man and the sucess of really stupid violent thugs.

I know what this says about me. I think it is more telling about the crowd that thinks 50 cent is "da bomb"

the life of Chris LaDoux

I didn't know a thing about LaDoux. I know he had to cancel at the end of last year, about five months ago, when he was scheduled for the second weekend closer at the SF Grand National. Charlie Daniels ripped up his bow the weekend before. But I only heard the name, LaDoux, and that was all.

I think Garth Brooks was a fan of LeDoux; he dropped his name into one of his songs ("Much too Young to Feel This Damn Old") and I believe the two collaborated on "Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy"

"A worn out tape of Chris LeDoux,
Lonely women, and bad booze,
Seem to be the only friends I've left at all"

R.I.P. Chris.

My favorite Chris LeDoux lines...

But when my friend turned back towards me
I noticed his ol' hat brim -
Well, it was turned up in a big ol' Texas grin!

You'll ride a black tornado across the western sky,
Rope an ol' blue norther and milk it till it's dry,
Bulldog the Mississippi, pin its ears down flat,
Long before you take this cowboy's hat!"
