These press conferences have turned into t.v. face time. They don't usually offer any info just "attaboys" for each other on the dais.

I believe the Wisconsin cops when they tell us that he shot himself. There is no reason not to. Who would benefit from a lie? Certainly not the RATmedia which has been trying to convict Hale.
The officer who made the traffic stop was interviewed on local radio. This is roughly the officer's account.
He observed the van with Illinois plates parked and running in a residential neighborhood.
When he came back about 45 minutes later, the van was still there. He ran the plates and they came back with no wants.
He circled the block and the van left. The van did not have working brake lights. He used this as probable cause to stop.
The officer walked up to the driver's door when the glass broke with fragments hitting the officer and he realized a shot had been fired. The officer retreated to behind his squad and called for backup.
He looked through the back window of the van and saw that the driver was slumped over.
