Investigators early Thursday said a man who shot himself in the head during a traffic stop in Wisconsin had a suicide note claiming responsibility for the slaying of U.S. District Judge Joan Lefkow's husband and mother last week.
Members of the task force of Chicago police and federal agents said the man's van was stopped in West Allis, near Milwaukee, about 6 p.m. Wednesday. As officers approached the vehicle, the man killed himself with a gunshot to the head.
Investigators said the man had a suicide note that included an admission that he shot the judge's family. The note included details in the case that were not released to the public, investigators said.
In the vehicle were .22 caliber shells. Investigators found three casings of the same caliber in the Lefkow home this week. Investigators also said they should have enough physical evidence, including DNA, a fingerprint and other items from the crime scene, to make a definitive comparison.
Sources close to the case said they were investigating whether the judge had ruled against the man in a civil matter. He was not immediately thought to have ties to any hate group.
The note indicated that the judgment had cost the man "his house, his job and family" one source said.
Chicago police and federal investigators were en route to West Allis late Wednesday to investigate. If the man's suicide note is true, the investigation, which had moved heavily toward the organization tied to jailed white supremacist Matthew Hale, will have ended in a starkly different realm.

How old was this guy? Perhaps he wad just dealing with his anger and/or despondency, in a way that many of the younger generation have chosen. Violence and suicide are up considerably, perhaps due to all the cultural and societal "gains" engineered by the left.
Police in West Allis, Wisconsin, plan a news conference today but in the meantime are not confirming the report.
And the MSM will be deeply saddened :(
The whole story is saddening. Continuing prayers up for Judge Lefkow. She seems like a good person. Prayers that this will provide "cloture." It is frustrating not to have anyone to punish, but at least it gets it over quickly.
The judge's loss is saddening. The MSM's rush to judgement is infuriating. And if this guy is really the perp and has no ties to a hate group, the MSM has egg on its face. Again.
Sure will not take them long to find out if they have the right evidence or not.

According to reports, the note he left gave details of the murder scene that had never been made public. There is also a lot of forensic evidence (DNA, ballistics, fingerprints) that will easily confirm whether he is the killer. If he is, I'm glad he offed himself.

Supposedly there was a finger print recovered from the broken basement window. That would settle it.
Otherwise how do we know if the perp didn't setup this guy to take the fall?
If the perp setup this guy to take the fall, it would be easy to create a suicide letter with the details of the murder. After all this guy is dead...
I hope there is other hard evidence to confirm his guilt.
