Hmmmm---Condi Rice and Jeb Bush. Not a bad ticket.

The very thought of Jeb running will be his death sentence. Rats will never tolerate such a dynastic move.
VP is just as bad. Jeb will make it only to the Senate, but not beyond.

Jeb for VP is ridiculous. He is a full fledged Presidential candidate. I have yet to hear what states Jeb would lose that his brother won. The answer is none.
Jeb is probably the most popular governor in the US and the obvious person to carry the George W. Bush vision for America into the next decade. Just because he is a Bush will end up meaning nothing except to the Dems and the media who already hate the Bush family.
If the Republicans can't sell a successful governor of an important state, who has handled many an emergency, with conservative values, strong family background and even a good environmental record than they are idiots.
The truth is, if these guys were named Kennedy and were Democrats the media would be falling all over themselves to promote "Camelot".
Jeb Bush 2008, lets finish what we've started.

Novak says no strong GOP candidate is interested in taking on Nelson? I thought Katherine Harris was going to run. Isn't she considered a formidable candidate?

"VP is just as bad. Jeb will make it only to the Senate, but not beyond."
Nonsense. This site was also filled with people who were calling GWB a "one-termer" just days into his first inauguration.
I think that the presidency is Jeb's for the taking, unless he makes a major mistake.
Other than his name, he has a two-term governorship to his credit, and let's not forget he is a southerner.
He fits the mold also as a pro-lifer.
However, I would not vote for the GOP ticket with even one of the two people at the top was pro-choice.

I love Jeb Bush. He's a great governor.
But I think the VP route is a good one.
The only negative thing I can see in Bush's Presidential bid, and this is really a shallow opinion, but his wife is so short and he is so tall.
Of course, the fact that she's Hispanic and he speaks fluent Spanish, and Hispanic's are going to outnumber blacks in coming elections, are all positives.

Katherine Harris is a great candidate I would think. Jeb Bush however has a higher calling than the Senate.

If Jeb is pro-gun and pro-life, he's got my vote.
To: dawn53
I think the VP route only marginalizes him and would probably spell defeat. We don't have enough candidates that just shout "President", Jeb does. If we don't run our best candidate because of superficial reasons (I'm referring to the "dynasty" factor, not the short wife LOL) we will lose. Remember Ford. Reagan was the strongest guy, but we ran Ford and lost, sending the country on a four year spiral.
If we run Jeb we win.

"If Jeb is pro-gun and pro-life, he's got my vote."
I don't have any info on his 2nd amendment views.
I guess that people outside of a governor's state don't normally know these types of things until a campaign begins.
But we can't fool ourselves.
There WILL be a southerner on the GOP ticket in 2008.
The democrats need one, too. I think one reason Hillary moved to New York is so that she can capitalize on both the southern vote (having lived in Arkansas) and the New England vote.
She already has an advantage in other large (electoral college wise) states. I think the pubbies will need a pro-life southern governor and a very popular pro-life person from either California or New England on the ticket in 2008 (no one comes to mind).

Agree about Jeb. He's been a fantastic governor and would make a great President. Who cares what his last name is.

Think Bill Richardson on a Dem ticket, however, can you imagine the baggage these guys have? Think Los Alamos and White water.
I think a rust belt VP for the Republicans would be a great move also. Pennsylvania, Michigan or Ohio would be huge.

I hope you're correct that the Democrats are in for a long "dry spell."
I worry about the demographic wind blowing in their direction.
