Darn it, if only I had known that we could get an almost free house just for being poor!! :')

You silly woman! :-) Don't tell me you've been working all these years to have something of your own. Jimmeh Catah will come out and construct you a new residence his ownself. Sometimes you just got to play the system to get all the free stuff. They should make a handbook, like that illegal alien handbook they just came out with.

IF so, fine by me. But how many times do city code enforcers actually hit places where they need to? In Dallas, we've had real problems with this; they'll fine some old couple for having a carport that's been there for fifty years, while ignoring the abandoned drug den next door...

It says in the article that the house is no longer a Habitat house.

So it does - but only if you click on the link. Thanks.

"The family completed their obligations to the organization with their final payment last summer, said Robert "Ozzie" Quinn, then-executive director of the local chapter."

300 btu/phr sitting sedentary
600 btu/phr moving about, walking, chores etc.
900 btu/phr active. dancing, exercising and in this case apparently, Sex.

These are the standard no.s we used for heat gains while calculating air conditioning needs, when I was a draftsman. Might be some changes , but I think they are still fairly accurate guidelines.

In Chicago they tore down the projects and relocated the people into town homes..minimal rent, sometimes only 50 a mo.now the same people are destroying the townhouses.

I think the poster was talking about Carter being eighty years old.

Not the guy the article was about.

What the hell business is it of the governmen'at if they want to have heat in their house or not?

You must be new to this country. ;-)

We are the home of the "brave so long as the government controls everything and keeps us safe" and the land of the "free to do whatever the government thinks we should do."

The country you are probably thinking of when you asked your question went the way of the Cherokee years ago.
