It was one of the most startling sites I have seen in quite some time. I was walking the dog just after dark and happened to be staring up at Orion when a blue streak lit the sky in a slow glide to the west, seemingly right into the Pacific with a tremendous flash.
Stunning.... enough so to share.

No sonic boom like there was in Fla?
To: razorback-bert
I didn't hear one, but extended reports say there was.

Is there any consensus on what the heck it was? Should I put on my tin hat? LOL

Is it a meteorite or is North Korea doing target practice again?

No! But, I saw the flashes as it went below the horizon. Damn near looked like it hit OHSU from where I was standing. It tracked a shallow angle, but did NOT travel horizontally as many reported... at least not from where I stood and I saw it from beginning to end.

Damn! Santa's test run failed.

I tell you... I've seen a few spectacular meteors. But, this one was most stunning. It started with a blue glow and left a very long blue tail it its wake as it made a very slow descent all the way to the horizon.

I'm sure wherever it hit, it killed all the dinosaurs in the immediate vicinity
To: Mr.Atos
Blue??? Most meteorites/meteors have a white or yellow trail. What the heck solid burns blue?
