I'd prefer just saying "Dude, what you're doing is wrong."

If I were All-Holy like the Lord, or even mundanely holy like a saint, I guess calling people "vipers" would be OK. Since I'm obviously not, I'm more comfortable using the "fellow sinner" approach.

Where have you been since 1960?

There is a rather pronounced difference between a sin that is tolerated and one that is actively promoted by political action committees. I believe Planned Parenthood are "children of the devil" and worthy of withering ridicule because they are actively proud of abortion and promote it as having social utility.

I know your posts well enough to know that you are an excellent Christian and that your intentions here are good.

LOL! If it's one thing I am not, Antoninius, it's an "excellent Christian"! That's a kind thing to say, but it just ain't so. Please pray for me that someday I might become merely a "good" Christian.

Divorce, remarriage, the use of birth control, and out-of-wedlock sex are far, far more damaging to our society than buttpokery could ever be.

You've overstated your case. I don't subscribe to the 'seamless garment' of Cardinal Bernadin. We don't lump all sins together just to give a particularly galling and egregious one "cover." This particular article is about a delusional young girl who thinks everyone needs to accept her perversion. The other acts you list are sins, no doubt, but they are not the subject matter of this thread.

As for "buttpokery"--lest you forget, this particular act is the primary force which kick-started AIDS and helps propagate a myriad of other STDs. The unrepentant homosexual "lifestyle" has only just burst onto the scene in a big way. Give them another 20 years if things keep going as they are now and then make your comparison.

How come we're not calling divorcees, adulterers, masturbators, and birth control users "children of the devil" as well?

If they are unrepentant, we are. You must have missed those threads. This particular thread is about homosexuality.

That's what you say when they're getting a Dell. "Fellow sinners" is terminology you use for people who recognize they are in sin, or at least subject to sin. When someone is trying to indoctrinate your children, you bring out the millstone rhetoric.

Then it is perfectly fair for an opposing viewpoint to stridently ridicule what is stridently advocated.

Yes. I agree that it is fair. But it wont help our side when those who are booing are also screaming "DEVIL CHILD!!!!!!!!!" from the top of their lungs...

Adultery and masturbation were accepted as "normal" by most people long ago.

The next time I see a "masturbation rights" rally, or my city hangs out flags to celebrate adultery for an entire month, I'll let you know.

Almost no one I know considers masturbation or adultery "normal" -- including most of the people who think it's perfectly fine to live the "gay" lifestyle.

Well, if you allow me neither to laud nor denounce, what shall I do all day? Sit around being a lukewarm milquetoast?

Let's see. What is the rhetorical antidote to two high school lesbians exchanging flowers, hugging, holding hands, dancing together on the dance floor in front of normal teenagers? "Barren! Child of death! SUV Owner!" I suppose there were "moderate" Hebrews who were deeply embarassed when John the Baptist started screaming "viper," but we remember John the Baptist, not the timid, nuanced, mild mannered fellows in the crowd.

So are you seeking the fame of John the Baptist or something similiar?

One question: can you imagine if American men each had just a small measure of the Baptist's zeal? Can you imagine if our Republican majority had a tenth of Samuel Adam's passion? ("..bow down and lick the hand of your masters...") Can you imagine what would happen if Conservatives really argued for the truth with all the passion that homosexuals argue for a lie?.
