I'm sorry for not posting a link - the story is here somewhere on FR this weekend - just search for NYT and I'm sure you see it - the headline is about LOOTING OF WEAPONS IN IRAQ - it's really quite comical to read it because you realize that we KNEW all this years ago now .. and the NYT is finally admitting they knew it too.
Of course, their focus is that Bush was an incompetent because he didn't stop it. The new Iraqi govt gave the report to the NYT.

The "Shamoo" was created by Al Capp. His other characters ended up in the White House for eight years in the 1990s.Hi Eric,
Al Capp's creation was the Schmoo.
Methinks the author of this is trying to make reference to "Shamu" the whale.
P.S. Pray for me, I have to fly NWA pretty soon.

"I thought the reference was to the Shmoo's tubbyness."
My guess is MM is as big as a whale (shamoo).

Somebody get us a link -- or better yet, some excerpts. (Unfortunately, last I checked you have to subscribe for $30 a month to get into NYT on-line and I have not subscribed.)

The 100,000 figure is a big fat lie. Socialists make up statistics at the drop of a hat. They probably really believe that we've been bombing everything in sight with no regard for collateral damage, and in any case they are wuite ignoarant of military realities. They either believe we're carpet bombing Iraqi neighborhoods, or they want the rest of the people to believe it.
Of course, before the war they were all quoting the UN prediction that the war would kill 500,000 Iraqis. I wonder why they didn't just go ahead and say that's what happened. It wouldn't be any less truthful than the one they're using.

Estimates of the price of Socialism and Communism (yeah, I know, same difference) range from 100 million to 250 million. The low range is an estimate of genocides and undeserved executions, the high ranges include wars (WWII killed about 60 million people) and some padding because we really don't know where all the bodies are buried.
And some people think this stuff'll work if we just try it one more time. Uh-uh, not in my neighborhood.

And now the tables are turned. Yes, but our main complaint about Moore isn't his weight! That's pretty low on the list!

If you guys like Capp, check out books of WWII nose art. His characters were popular subjects. There were even a few squadrons who had Lil Abner stuff on every plane. One of them was an RAF squadron!

I stand corrected -- getting at the NYT on-line is free. Guess the $29.95 a month thing I remember from a year or two ago was a bit of a turn-off. Anyway here is the link:
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/13/international/middleeast/13loot.html
Apparently WMD themselves weren't looted (as far as they know) but equipment for making them sure was. To me it's the same thing, but that's not good enough to silence the Moore-ons.
Then again, nothing is.
