A lot of people seem to favor the proposed consumption tax, but I understand there's a caveat to it in that you'll make your purchases using an I.D. card. Using the information stored on your I.D. card the powers that be can determine if your income is low enough that you'll receive a refund for some of the tax you've paid on purchases. Because of this and other ramifications of the consumption tax I urge you to oppose it. Its just another step in Big Brother's march to spy on you and control you.

There are a several problems with the various consumption taxes. First, the idea that a federal agency the size of the IRS is simply going to vaporize is silly. Second, the consumption tax proposals always refer to a tax on new goods AND SERVICES. What that means is that anyone who works for himself (including a babysitter) will then have their own personal IRS agent. Third, let's say I fix computers for a living out of my garage. That's a "service" isn't it? If I have to report what I take in in order to pay tax on it, isn't that just a bunch of corporate wage earners palming off their IRS headache on me? Isn't that just a socialist mob mentality that there are more of them and they want rid of their headache so screw the guy who has the nerve to work for himself? Fourth, *what exactly* are the consumption koolaid drinkers going to do when they don't get exactly what they want? Ever heard any of them even admit the possibility? Fifth, which relates to your tracking suggestion, the very concept of a "prebate" involves tracking or filing. I thought the idea was to get rid of an intrusive tax collection system. Guess NOT. Finally, the goal here is to get everybody figuratively tattooed with a number (nobody has yet been able to explain to me what possible authority govt has to require that) then tie that number to plastic fiat currency/travel/gun permits, then turn off your plastic when you have an overdue parking ticket so you'll come groveling to your government master to have your life turned back on.
