Do this test, 5 yard stress fire from holstered position. One shot, your starter starts you at random. It was a good outcome but he was probably bringing the gun up, aiming at center of mass and just pulled up a little.
IPSC shooting is close to this type of shooting... really fun and lots of stress firing.
