Terri Schiavo's husband speaks out

17 March, 2005 by romit

The husband of a brain-dead Tampa woman is lashing out at Gov.Jeb Bush and the Florida Legislature for again interfering in the case.

The husband of a brain-dead Tampa woman is lashing out at Gov.Jeb Bush and the Florida Legislature for again interfering in the case.

The Legislature is moving a bill that could prevent the removal of the feeding tube that is keeping Terri Schiavo alive and Bush is ready to sign it, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

The courts had given Michael Schiavo permission to remove the feeding tube Friday.

"What is going on with the legislation is the reason I am starting to speak out -- because it is outrageous," Michael Schiavo told ABC's "Nightline" Tuesday.

"Are they going to start pushing legislation for removing ventilators? Are they going to start forcing people to take chemo against their wishes?" he asked.

Schiavo said he would not benefit in any financial way from his wife's death. He said her death would result in no pain or discomfort.

Terri Schiavo, 40, has been in a permanent vegetative state since 1990 when she suffered cardiac arrest.

I have a feeling that Michael Schiavo's time on earth will not be a pleasant one if Terri is left to starve. He will be an object of scorn for millions of people. And he can't hide, people will know who he is.

Schiavo said he would not benefit in any financial way from his wife's death.

Then telling where her malpractice settlement went shouldn't be a problem.

He said her death would result in no pain or discomfort.

How would he, or anyone else, know that?..or perhaps he was talking about himself..he is very selfish don't forget..

Michael Schiavo needs to finish the job of killing his wife that he very likely started via strangulation more than 10 years ago. He doesn't dare let her live, because if she receives enough therapy to one day effectively communicate, she just might well provide a statement regarding Michael that would result in him facing an attempted murder charge.

And that would make Greer, Felos and the rest of that murderous lot accessories.

No they aren't going to force people to stay on a ventilator or undergo Chemotherapy against their will. The only thing they are doing is making a law that protects a defenseless woman from her abusive estranged prick of a husband who wants to starve her to death.Keep trying to scare people with your ridiculous accusations Mickey, it makes you sound like an even bigger jackass. He better hurry up and run back to judge Greer before Terri is able to say those words he fears the most.

a bigamist.

Either way....not really in charge now...right???

I don't get it...why does this creep get a voice or even a vote.

Disenfranchise the bast_rd!

How can they say Terri is "brain dead"...if she were brain dead she would be doing nothing..she looks around, smiles, and does things someone who is brain dead would not do...I think the term must be misused.
I also think her husban, who moved on years ago, had this woman and a couple kids by her seems not to be too dedicated to Terri.
What really bothers me about this is the new merchkilling that will be in the wings next. How about someone like my aunt who is a stroke victim..she can walk with assistance, enjoys being read to, cant eat..has to have a feeding tube. So what now..they pull it out just because she cant eat the normal way? Where will this end?

This is a silly question, but why didn't he just divorce her. Why did he make it so difficult for everyone?

"This is a silly question, but why didn't he just divorce her. Why did he make it so difficult for everyone?"

Not a silly question at all. I would be one to ask that as well.

But IMO, He knew he would get something "good" out of this if he made a big enough deal out of it later on. He got payed over $750,000 for crying out loud! (As a matter of factly, he is still receiving more money out of it...)

It's people like Michael Schiavo who make me sick (AND the judge who ruled the court case in the first place). Michael is more in it for the money than for Terri's well-being and health issues...

and why he won't let her parents at LEAST see her, is even worse. Terri is THEIR daughter! They should have every right to decide what needs to be done...not him... :(

"Are they going to start pushing legislation for removing ventilators? Are they going to start forcing people to take chemo against their wishes?" he asked.

How odd that he can't see his argument here, to force death and potentially save life within the same sentence.

NO offense to anyone, I realize this is a passionate issue around here. I just wonder why this whole case is so important to so many people? There are many thousands of people like this in this very situation.

Assuming that the fight against her husband is successful, what has been won? People would have been successful in fighting for the right of this woman to remain in a vegetative state for the next who knows how many years while at least her organs could have been donated to really save someone's life.

I'm totally indifferent on the issue, I couldn't care less about it, I'm just wondering.
