Study: Abstinence May Lead to Risky Acts

1 hour, 35 minutes ago U.S. National - AP

By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer

The latest study, published in the April issue of the Journal of Adolescent Health, found that teens pledging virginity until marriage are more likely to have oral and anal sex than other teens who have not had intercourse. That behavior, however, "puts you at risk," said Hannah Brueckner, assistant professor of sociology at Yale and one of the study's authors

I don't buy this for a second. Prudes are just as likely to have STD's as sluts? No way.

LOL. That too. And totally understandable when one considers where the people suggesting this have their heads placed.

don't know about that.....read another study awhile back that said the same thing.....the stats don't bear out why this occurs.....just like when I was young and told my parents I wouldn't go out and drink.......right???? and I grew up in a very Christian home but when you're young peers, hormones, whatever pull you in alot of different directions........don't put much faith though in any casual relationship

Pledging abstinence isn't the same as remaining abstinent.

Signing some sort of silly abstinence pledge does nothing to actually prevent kids from having sex, IMO.

I don't want to start a flame war, but expecting a human being to be 100% chaste until they're married is getting a little unreasonable.

Consider the average age for marriage is now 26 or so.
