Lautenberg Introduces Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act

Measure Tougher and More Comprehensive than 1994 Federal Ban on Assault Weapons that President Bush and Republicans Allowed to Expire Last Year

WASHINGTON, DC --Acting forcefully to protect citizens and law enforcers, United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg introduced today a bill which would restore the federal ban on dangerous assault weapons.

"Keeping assault weapons off our streets is common sense," said Senator Lautenberg. "Our first responsibility to the American people is to keep them safe."

The "Assault Weapons Ban and Law enforcement Protection Act" would permanently reinstate and significantly strengthen the federal ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazine that expired on September 2004. The Lautenberg bill would improve and simplify the definition of assault weapons; would expand the scope of the ban to include conversion parts kits that can be purchased through the mail and used to build an assault weapon; regulate the transfer of grandfathered assault weapons; clarify definitions of assault weapon characteristics; and enhance tracing of assault weapons.

"It is time to act in the interest of the American people, not the gun lobby," said Senator Lautenberg. "Innocent lives, including law enforcement officials, are at risk and we need to pass this legislation now. Gun laws should be there to protect the innocent; not help criminals and terrorists"

The Governmental Accountability Office (GAO) produced a detailed report at the request of Senator Lautenberg that found that at least 47 suspected and known terrorists who are listed on the nation's terror watch lists were allowed to legally purchase firearms. With the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban, these people could now upgrade from a hand gun or rifle, to an AK-47.

Yes, Mr. Lautenberg, I too have noticed that since September the streets are running red with blood. (/sarcasm)

Lautenburg has no business even being in the Senate. Republican's should have screamed bloody murder when he was illegally substituded for the torch.

Here's a link to the complete bill
S. 645

Note; this link is from the senate and has the lead in tripe spewing speech by the jackass 'senator'.

But also NOTE, in the last week there's been OTHER AWB bills introduced. Some in the senate (Di-Fi again) and also in the House. We are under full attack by the gun grabbers.

Go to THOMAS and search "assault weapons" and they'll all pop up. And this time they're leaving no stone unturned. Now they want to ban the M-1 Garand too.

...and yes...they DID (even the democrats) swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States

...from ALL enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC.

When will we get rid of left-wing, anti-gun, anti-freedom, anti-AMERICAN scumbags like Lautenburg, who is, in fact, nothing short of a DOMESTIC ENEMY of the people of the United States?

Maybe the courts will work, but I doubt it.

The 'ballot box' sure hasn't worked, given the fact that this piece-of-sh*t is from the Peoples Republic of New Jersey.

What's left to us, other than the 'cartridge box'?

Hope that never becomes necessary (when, and if, our government ever becomes the Tyrannical government that scum like Lautenburg would want, and that our Founders helped arm us against), but maybe one day it will.

Sen. Lousenberg, as he is commonly know in NJ, has done a great public service in introducing this bill. It will get more Dems - including that bubblehead Hillary - on record as being opposed to gun rights which means more Democratic defeats in the coming years.

The Laut thinks we need to be protected from ourselves? Politicians are more dangerous than assault weapons.

These appear to be the actions of a government which fears the populace.

Then stop trying to disarm us.

Case in point....These weapons were bought about TWO years before the ban expired. They were purchased through federally licensed dealers as well. There are only three rifles total in these photos. We bought two Armalite A2/AR-15s, and the FN-FAL ("mostly" STG-58) sometime in 2000 or so. A friend of mine bought the flat topped Armalite just before the ban expired.

So much for the ban. The law passed by Bush Sr. in 1986 needs to be repealed though!

Here's one for all the "Haters of Evil Black Guns with High Capacity Magazines, and Pistol Grips". Can you identify this one? All of you who KNOW what this "thing" is, don't tell! :-)

Our elected law makers in Washington are totally ignorant of guns, what they can do and what they are for. They are also ignorant of the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment. It looks scary so let's keep it out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

I "thought" his paycheck was from out of the U.S. Treasury! :-)

Senator Lautenberg, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Schumer and Senator Boxer have an unusual obsession with gun control. Why ?

Because it is hard to tyrannize an armed populace.

....have an unusual obsession with gun control. Why ?

Fear. They are terrified that someone will get fed up with their shenanigans and send them to hell with a high velocity booster.

NOT THAT I'M ADVOCATING SUCH THINGS, but they keep it up and they may soon find themselves in just such a circumstance. Slaves can only be whipped so long before they lose fear of the lash.

Lautenberg is an ancient German word for "lying a**hole". Some of these so-called Senators need to be forcibly ejected from office, and possibly from the country.

The original SA in Springfield MA is no more, and has gone to seed. It's a park/historical site now. The name was bought by "Springfield Armory Inc." of Geneseo, Illinois. That's where SA INC's are made. Quality problems started in the late 90's, and are getting worse. Cast recievers, increasingly more cast parts, and poor quality control.
