Greer could still issue another order removing the feeding tube, even after Congress passes the bill and the President signs it. We're still in for a bumpy ride.

You're welcome. I'm trying to help calm nerves. I'm looking forward to the fight and we must do all we can to support and encourage our people in Congress.

The uproar could have been completely avoided if the courts had simply done what they should have done in the first, place, ie. follow the law laid down by the Florida legislature.

believe that this won't affect the wishes of those with a living will. It's for those people who's specific wishes are unknown.

I hope you are correct (that the Federal Gov't is not setting precedent over even those with living wills).

will they set precedent that also stops other peoples own decisions via living wills -

Absolutely not! Listen to what they've said, read the language of the bills.

and Jeb won't use actual force?

I'm not sure that he's legally able to do that at this time. Perhaps federal force might be used if congress passes a strong bill.

There is some federal act they are amending. I didn't get the name... did anyone else?

My question is: what is actually going to come of this though? What are they going to do (in time) that will re-insert the tube ? I'm not trying to be a pain here, I just want to know if this will have any direct effect... we thought the subpoenas would work because you can't tamper with a federal witness... why should anything else work if greer is just going to ignore it, and Jeb won't use actual force?

Any law passed directly naming Terri Schiavo will have a bill of attainder problem. As ridiculous as this is going to sound, a judge has made a finding of fact that Terri wants to die, any legislation directed at keeping her alive would be inf act "punishing" her without a trial.

The devil will be in the details. But short of finding Greer in contempt of congress, and his being removed from the bench, I can't see this feeding tube being re-inserted.

Well, I suppose he could be impeached or (if elected) defeated at the polls or recalled from office...

Greer was just reelected in November with 2/3 of the vote.

The Republican Party is now the liberal party. What a joke.

Government spending through the roof and now micro managing a state/domestic issue.

We are witness a breathtaking philosophical shift in American politics..

They said they will reconvene at 5 pm EST. I am glad they are reconvening, but considering that Terri is starving, one would think, they could have reconvened at 9 am instead.

Oh, that would be way too much for these blow-hard wind bags (after watching our Senate and Congress during the baseball hearings I have completely no respect for most of our elected officials) - They are simply hypocritical wind bags who think they are all so much above every day Americans it is sickening.

Golf and handball games may be the venue where the details were worked out for Terri.
That's how it works in business, golf game or a martini with dinner and then firm up the deal.
I'm not saying I approve but that's how it's done.

Very large things may be about to happen.

Do you have inside info., or are you merely speculating along with the rest of us?

Yes, this is the Government's business. This is not about a right to die. IF Terri had a living will this would not be an issue. This is about human rights and the disabled. The is similar to Roe vs. Wade and the can of worms it opened up. It could open the door for many disabled to be terminated because of inconvenience. The Nazi's started like this.

This is not just about Terri. Yet, what they are doing to Terri, in my humble opinion, is murder. They didn't just remove the feeding tube, they are forbidding ANY oral feeding or hydration. We couldn't do that to a mangy dog. This is murder.
