all the money from the settlement was spent already on her care. There is no money left.

All the money is mostly gone. But it sure didn't go for any rehab or care. That all ended when Mikey deposited the check in 1992. Here is an accounting of the funds(including pre-payment of her cremation with Greer's blessing from funds that were intended for her rehab):

The following expenditures have been paid directly from Terri's Medical Trust fund, with the approval of Judge George Greer:

Summary of expenses paid from Terri’s 1.2 Million Dollar medical trust fund (jury awarded 1992)

NOTE:  In his November 1993 Petition Schiavo alleges the 1993 guardianship asset balance as $761,507.50

Atty Gwyneth Stanley
Atty Deborah Bushnell
Atty Steve Nilson
Atty Pacarek
Atty Richard Pearse (GAL)
Atty George Felos

$10,668.05
$65,607.00
$7,404.95
$1,500.00
$4,511.95
$397,249.99

Other

1st Union/South Trust Bank

$55,459.85

Michael Schiavo

$10,929.95

Total  $545,852.34

After 11 years of interference with carrying out his wifes request her husband has been forced into a lifestyle that he wouldn't have gone to had he been allowed to carry out her wishes.

This is Michael's $400,000 house, complete with an oval pool in the back yard. He and his "fiancee" have his and her Mercedes. All this on a nurses salary??? What a tough lifestyle to be "forced" into, wouldn't you say??

Hubby lives in a fancy house with luxury cars while Terri has languished in hospice for 5 years without even basic  rehab as is her retained right under Florida statutes. All the while being on Medicaid.

I've come to the conclusion that they don't want to save innocent life, but actually want to persecute it and snuff it out. Thus, they (death penalty opponents) will scream bloody murder to save the most despicable killers in the world from the death penalty, who once spared, will go on killing innocent people, apparently much to the delight of libs. But not a peep for a Terri Schiavo. Or for a fetus about to be aborted. Man, no one can tell me the devil isn't involved in liberal politics.

Let's look at this objectively.

1. If Terry is in a persistant vegetative state with no awareness, then she isn't suffering. Killing her only is a convenience for those left behind. If she made that statement (doubtful) thinking of Michael, transferring care to her parents saves him from any responsibility. So, why not do it?

2. If she is NOT in a PVS, then why should she be killed?

It's very simple. If she is in a PVS, give care to her parents. If she is NOT in a PVS, require the husband to start tests and therapy, OR transfer guardianship to someone who will.

Hildy's got an effective bit of propaganda there...degrading Terri by talking about "wiping her ass."

The pro-death crowd are always good propagandists.

I did read somewhere that she wants a real wedding in the church. Could they find a priest who would actually marry them?

The debate is based on faulty assumptions. "No heroic measures" does not include a feeding tube and water.

It refers to respirators and kidney dialysis machines and active CPR, etc.

When in doubt, err on the side of life. God is watching each of us choose sides.

Some are choosing poorly.

"all the money from the settlement was spent already on her care. There is no money left. "

You bring up another interesting point. With the medical liability reform being pushed, Ms. Schalvo would only be entitled to $250K for pain and suffering for all that she has been through assuming she were to awake 13 years after entering this state. Is that right? I personally was one of the few people on this board who are against this legislation for cases just like this.

Who would say that would be their wish?

We don't always get what we wish. You simply do not kill an innocent human being for your own convenience.

I tended to my father like a newborn baby for almost a year after he became totally bedridden and helpless with Alzheimer's Disease. His mind was gone but his body hung onto life with the help of a feeding tube the same as Terri's. Yes it inconvenienced me. I quit my job in another state and left my wife alone at home for 10 months with only an occasional short visit in order to care for my father until his care was turned over to the angels in heaven.

I don't say this to glorify the "sacrifices" I made, I owed my father far more than I could have repaid by a thousand years of care. I often prayed that God would mercifully take him home and end the suffering for him and for all those involved including myself. But that decision was not mine to make, and the decision to end Ms. Shiavo's life is not for any man, woman, or judge on earth to make.

The Nazis perfected "mercy killing" into an efficient system in the early years of Hitler's regime. Many of the misfits of society and the mentally disabled were taken away from families under false pretenses and simply disappeared. Now that efficiency in it's infant stage has been imported into our society. If a state judge can order the death of a woman who has not been convicted of a capital crime and poses no threat to society whatsoever, how long before they come for the retarded child, or the disfigured, or any other type of imperfect specimens of humanity? After all, by the reasoning of so many on this board those people are expensive to maintain alive and are inconvenient to someone somewhere, and apparently that is the greatest crime a person can commit in this hedonistic, self-absorbed culture of today. God help us, please.

Montesquieu, the inspiration, or one of them, of our Fedgov, said that insisting on 'no divorce' was a weakness in our civilization and would ultimately lead to our downfall. Curmudgeon.

It is not an easy choice. When my loving father died at such a young age I frankly went over board to make sure my wishes would be honored. Dad is buried in Arlington and he deserved the honor but I did know he would have enjoyed being buried underneath a weeping willow tree and my Mom would have nothing of that.

Last night when my beloved (Dave - No Longer Free State) and I discussed this it was most difficult for him. Yet when he goes to Iraq I must be prepared he had not thought about that as it pertains to me. But he did at the end of the conversation he would honor my wishes. I also know what bothers him the most is the method she is receiving to accomplish what she "asked" her husband to do on her behalf (was not there and cannot support that she said such things to her husband).

Thank you for your kind comment.

I sent you an apology in a private message - before I read the threat. I really thought you were a troll - judging only from that one post. Good gracious!

"And another thing, who are you to ask me why I am here. I have been here a good longer time than you. And I have friends. So keep calling me a democrat and YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY. You will be meeting the big guys on this forum and believe me, you don't want them on your skinny little tail.

So there!"

O.k. I am very very scared of you now, and I will be very careful, because I don't know what I would do if you sent all of your big friends after me, because you are right, I am very skinny, and I'm sure they would do me great harm.

Now, since all that is cleared up and we are on the same side, we can go back to fighting FOR Terri. :)

Do you have some info on this judge Greer?
I heard that this Felos guy is on the board of Directors at this hospice or something?

Well there's an easy solution for Michael - DIVORCE. He get's "his life back" and Terri doesn't need to die because her family is more than willing to provide for and take care of her!!!!!

amazing post, thanks. I just figured out that he kept her on medicaid by taking assets and puttting them into a big house. medicaid requires spending down but exempts the home. He won't divorce her as half of that house is hers.

She has to die for him to make out like a bandit.
