And I do think that the Congresspeople, and President Bush, who are doing this understand that there may be a political cost, because of the pure media-fed ignorance of most of the American public. But they're working to save Terri anyway. Tom Delay said President Bush would "enthusiastically" (or something like that) sign the bill. This, despite polls that indicate most people support Michael Schiavo.

This is why I become so infuriated at those that accuse them of grandstanding or doing nothing. The public does not know the details, the MSM is lying, and thanks to the short time in this instance there is no time to explain it. It's developing moment by moment. But the Reps are doing it anyway no matter the cost. They need to be respected and supported for doing the right thing in the face of public ignorance. And those few Dems that are apparently signing on, I thank them as well.

I was away for a while b/c of household things, but you are absolutely right.

The people don't know the details, probably the first time they ever heard about what Terri has been denied (like, um, sunlight?!) was when Tom Delay spoke at the press conference today.

I think if people knew the facts, the polls would reverse very quickly.
