The Town That Sold Its Children

France is in shock as 66 residents go on trial for gruesome paedophilia

Amid the bundles of closely-typed paperwork and legal tomes, the lawyers flourish and stab their ballpoint pens at scrawled sketches of family trees on their open notebooks.

The scribbled charts are helping them to keep track of the dips and twists of some of the most distressing and gruesome stories of depravity ever to be brought to light in a French court.

That France's biggest ever criminal trial should be taking place in the beautiful Loire valley town of Angers, famed for its Cointreau, its heritage and its meandering river, is as inexplicable as the horror unfolding on the notebooks.

Sixty-six residents are facing charges that include child sex abuse, incest and pimping their own children for not much more than the price of a carton of cigarettes.

The 45 alleged victims are children aged from six months to 12 years old. The accused are their mothers, fathers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles. Last week at Angers assizes court, it took three days for four clerks to read out the 430-page charge sheet against the 39 men and 27 women. The charges include abusing 26 girls and 19 boys during at least 100 orgies, some of which included sado-masochistic sex games.

An international trend? Better not let Justice Kennedy know about it or SCOTUS will find a new constitutional right.

Do you think this is similar to the phony charges of abuse that prosecutor in Oregon (or was it Washington) drummed up against nearly an entire town?

I know someone else on FR will remember all the details.

This just does not sound plausible.

Before everybody gets too excited, let's remember the Wenatchee,Washington case that looked like this and turned out to be a crock.

But I thought the French were so enlightened, sophisticated and morally superior to the rest of the world.

This just does not sound plausible.

I will look it up but apparently they have some of it on video. There is a lot of evil in the world.

According to the rest of the article much of it has already been admitted to, even though the trial has just begun.

The Nazis thought they were, too.

If this is true, it is sick. If not, someone wants to pick up a town, cheap.

Here in the U.S. the victim list would probably be longer.  The defendants are charged with promoting prostitution and rape of minors under 15.  So, those victims 15 or older were willing, consensual participants?  Don't think that would fly even in San Francisco.

No, it has several names: "diversity", "alternate/non-traditional lifestyle", etc.

"This just does not sound plausible."

I've been thinking that from the first on this case. It seems like it may well be some kind of mass hysteria. I think these are pretty poor people too, so it may be easy for the system to push them around.

However, they are insisting they've been scrupulous in compiling the charges, because they had some other big case like this fall apart not too long ago. The accuser(s) recanted.

I could see one demented family doing something like this, particularly if they were employed by the UN. The UN seems to have a prediliction for hiring pedophiles.

But, 66 people?

This strikes me as a Wenatchee wannabe.
