KING: Have you had any contact with the family today? This is a sad day all the way around, Michael. We know of your dispute.

M. SCHIAVO: I've had no contact with them.

KING: No contact at all?

M. SCHIAVO: No.

KING: Do you understand how they feel?

M. SCHIAVO: Yes, I do. But this is not about them, it's about Terri. And I've also said that in court. We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want...

The above quote seems like such a bombshell it should be worthy of its own thread. Jeb Bush, arrest Michael and restore the feeding tube (and antibiotics) ASAP.

That is not the first time that jerk has lied over all of these years. I will not believe, that after following this for three years now, that Michael will get his wish. I still have faith that something is going to happen soon for Terri and her family.

I first saw it here. Someone else supplied the transcript link [which, at cnn.com, should be as reliable as anything they put out]. I just supplied the new thread.

I am certain that I’m not the first one to think of this but...
Has anyone ever accessed the testimony of Michael Schiavo in the original malpractice trial – or a deposition. Knowing insurance defense lawyers, I am sure he was deposed. What did he actually say then?
And, also at that trial, in calculating damages, there had to be testimony introduced by Schiavo (through his attorneys-same thing) about life span, quality of life, loss of consortium, etc.
I did a quick check of the clerk’s website but it didn’t appear to be available. Anybody know what it says?

I just tried calling the governor's mailbox and it was full. Who can we contact about this!? Too bad it wasn't noticed earlier, but Michael just admitted on national television that he's been lying about this case--I'd say that's grounds for an immediate indictment and restoration of food, fluids, and antibiotics.

I can't think of a "good light" to put this comment in. If the comment is narrowly construed to relate to visitation, the facts don't support Michael's contention.

You make an excellent observation.

I would assume that as part of the malpractice proceedings estimates of her life span were provided. It is these estimates that would have served as the primary basis for determining the award for maintenance. One might logically assume M Schivo would have used the longest time span in order to get the highest award amount. One would also assume that the level of care that was used for this estimate involved tubal feeding since that was presumably what she was using at that point.

Just another of his irrecinciable inconsistencies, all on the record.

All anyone needs to know to really know about this case is who's lining up for Terri, and who's lining up against her.

When I see godless demonrats, the American Hemlock Society, the American hating, God hating ACLU, a scummy death loving promoting lawyer (Felos), a wife beating, adulterous husband, the MSM, etc., etc., ALL LINE UP ON ONE SIDE, I KNOW THAT I KNOW, THAT I WANT TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!

Oh really. Had the quote been:

KING: Do you understand how they feel?
M. SCHIAVO: We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want...
then your interpretation would be reasonable. But the intervening sentences set a very clear frame of reference that "I" is Michael Schiavo, and "we" is Michael Schiavo plus one or more other people.

That is my interpretation. MS should not be so dumb when he has been saying for years that she told him she wanted to die in this context, to then just suddenly blurt out that the royal "we" did not know what she wanted. He was referring to the parents. That is my ruling. I banging down my gavel on it right now.

Yes, that's what Schiavo is saying her family said in court.

Look, I'm not advocating one side or the other in the argument, but pointing out the plain meaning of what was said in this interview.

It does no good to twist meanings and does not advance your position.

I have seen the testimony but I have so much stuff on my computer, I can't locate it all very quickly. Some of the stuff I have saved is no longer on the pages where I used to have links to it.

However, Michael's lawyer put forth that Terri's expected life span was 51 more years, and the jury agreed. The jury only awarded enough to care for Terri for 17 years, because they felt that she was partially at fault for her condition.

All those transcripts were posted here on the Terri threads.

His main arguement was that Terri told him she would not want to live this way.

The *this way* part is what snowballed into all the expert testimonies and facility changes concerning the stage of her physical abilities.
