KING: Have you had any contact with the family today? This is a sad day all the way around, Michael. We know of your dispute.
M. SCHIAVO: I've had no contact with them.
KING: No contact at all?
M. SCHIAVO: No.
KING: Do you understand how they feel?
M. SCHIAVO: Yes, I do. But this is not about them, it's about Terri. And I've also said that in court. We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want...
(Excerpt) Read more at transcripts.cnn.com ...
That's an admission of perjury!
He's expressing how THEY feel. Sheesh.
To Noah_Si al_178?: Weren't you the one yesterday claiming that Terri had told Michael that she would not want to live this way?
Good Catch supercat.
Michael Schiavo ADMITS to PURJURY
And who is "we"?
Michael and his girlfriend?
Not the first time he hung himself on LKL. Of course King is such a dull edge he never noticed.
Read the pertinent phrase again, little nettle: "We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want... " Michael Schiavo on CNN.
I first saw it here. Someone else supplied the transcript link [which, at cnn.com, should be as reliable as anything they put out]. I just supplied the new thread.
He's responding to the question "Do you understand how THEY feel"...
for crying out loud...
That line says it all!!
I am certain that Im not the first one to think of this but...
Has anyone ever accessed the testimony of Michael Schiavo in the original malpractice trial or a deposition. Knowing insurance defense lawyers, I am sure he was deposed. What did he actually say then?
And, also at that trial, in calculating damages, there had to be testimony introduced by Schiavo (through his attorneys-same thing) about life span, quality of life, loss of consortium, etc.
I did a quick check of the clerks website but it didnt appear to be available. Anybody know what it says?
Sure Ambrose. He doesn't mean what he says, he means what you say he means.
I just tried calling the governor's mailbox and it was full. Who can we contact about this!? Too bad it wasn't noticed earlier, but Michael just admitted on national television that he's been lying about this case--I'd say that's grounds for an immediate indictment and restoration of food, fluids, and antibiotics.
He's expressing he doesn't know what she wanted. Read it again. It's pretty clear.
You can't remove the answer from the context of the question.
Even better. There were nurses that lost their jobs that use to feed Terri.
She can eat.
Nurse her back to food and the heck with a tube.
MS was referring to the parents with the "we", not himself. That is clear from the context.
Yeah, and he responds by saying...
"This isn't about them"
"This is about Terri"
"We didn't know what she wanted"
"This is what we want".
What a guy.
Nobody likes lawyers ambrose. We just irritate people when we apply our little craft.
Given her current state, she'll probably need an IV first.
Terri ping! If anyone would like to be added to or removed from my Terri ping list, please let me know by FReepmail!
I can't think of a "good light" to put this comment in. If the comment is narrowly construed to relate to visitation, the facts don't support Michael's contention.
I would assume that as part of the malpractice proceedings estimates of her life span were provided. It is these estimates that would have served as the primary basis for determining the award for maintenance. One might logically assume M Schivo would have used the longest time span in order to get the highest award amount. One would also assume that the level of care that was used for this estimate involved tubal feeding since that was presumably what she was using at that point.
Just another of his irrecinciable inconsistencies, all on the record.
Clear as mud.
When I see godless demonrats, the American Hemlock Society, the American hating, God hating ACLU, a scummy death loving promoting lawyer (Felos), a wife beating, adulterous husband, the MSM, etc., etc., ALL LINE UP ON ONE SIDE, I KNOW THAT I KNOW, THAT I WANT TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!
Twisting plain words are your craft, Torie? ... I never thought you'd admit it!
When you say "We" in this context, it's clear you really mean "They".
Oh really. Had the quote been:
| KING: Do you understand how they feel?
M. SCHIAVO: We didn't know what Terri wanted, but this is what we want...
"WE" meaning he and his new wife.
I don't blame you Torie, Michael is going to need a lot of help.
You're right Ambrose. He is attributing this to them, not to himself.
He's saying that's her family's position. It's very clear from just your excerpt and even more clear looking at the transcript to confirm context.
It's very obvious.
That is my interpretation. MS should not be so dumb when he has been saying for years that she told him she wanted to die in this context, to then just suddenly blurt out that the royal "we" did not know what she wanted. He was referring to the parents. That is my ruling. I banging down my gavel on it right now.
If he was then he would've used the word they.
He was referring to the parents, not himself.
Yes, that's what Schiavo is saying her family said in court.
Look, I'm not advocating one side or the other in the argument, but pointing out the plain meaning of what was said in this interview.
It does no good to twist meanings and does not advance your position.
I have seen the testimony but I have so much stuff on my computer, I can't locate it all very quickly. Some of the stuff I have saved is no longer on the pages where I used to have links to it.
However, Michael's lawyer put forth that Terri's expected life span was 51 more years, and the jury agreed. The jury only awarded enough to care for Terri for 17 years, because they felt that she was partially at fault for her condition.
He was quoting the parents as it were.
Did you click the link to read the transcript?
All those transcripts were posted here on the Terri threads.
His main arguement was that Terri told him she would not want to live this way.
The *this way* part is what snowballed into all the expert testimonies and facility changes concerning the stage of her physical abilities.
