US House of Rep. in an Extraordinary Sunday night Session [Schiavo] (Bush Signs Schiavo bill)

Posted on 03/20/2005 6:03:40 PM PST by FoxPro

This is an unprecedented session. The Congress is meeting to save one persons life (in real time).

The only reason the Democrats are agreeing to this is that they don’t want to be known as the party that killed Terri.

This is American history happening before your eyes.

Nadler just said this case is no different than other "Do Not Resucitate" orders in hospitals...food and water is not resucitation!

The Rat speaking now is completely wacko,1st he said this is a bill of attainder eventhough it is not.
It's only going to be a bill of attainder ifTerri gets therapy, and speaks again and says he tried to kill me.

There was more reason to kill Reeve actually, for anyone who saw Superman 3.

Kudos to Sensenbrenner for doing his homework or having his homework done on the RATs.

Then you'd better put that in writing and get two witnesses because that is the only legal way in our state of Texas that you can file a living will. Terri signed nothing. We are to believe her husband who really, really wants her dead. I don't believe him because he has several good reasons for wanting her out of the way. If nothing else, Florida ought to get its act together an specify what constitutes a living will.

We've got quite a few doctors as representatives. I find that quite interesting in this day and age.

I am amazed at how many Physicians are in congress. I have not heard any speak on the Dem side. Has anyone else heard of any Dem doctors in the House?

"Somebody please cite a case where someone has been in a permanant vegatative state and come back after 15 years. This poor woman has been vegetative for 16 years with nothing more than the most basic of reflexive activities present (cardio, pulmonary, and nerve relfexes)."

If the AARP had any brains they would realize the Republicans are working to keep ALL seniors who might be a burdent to someone ALIVE.

Nadler is saying all the in-laws said and testified she wanted to die.D-New York, strange she did not tell her sister and own brother

I don't know how they think that helps make their case...it only makes it more suspicious.

Frank seems to be saying that because a specific case inspires this bill, it's wrong. First of all, there are plenty of bills written on behalf of specific persons. Second, Terri will die in a few days if they don't pass this bill. They can broaden it later to please Barney Frank.

Criminals always are entitled to federal review---and even if that fails to save them, a governor can unilaterally save their lives and halt an execution. Where is the equal protection for a disabled person who has committed no crime?

Oh, do you mean the King Show where he admitted he didn't know what Terri wants, but instead said this is what he wants? That King Show?

Rep Schwarz, a 41 year doctor. This is a "brain doctor"!!!!

He's an ENT and an oral surgeon. Very bright guy, and he's not someone who is just following party rules, he has a rep for being very independent. So his support on this is significant.
