Attacks Against French Jews and Muslims Hit Highest Level in a Decade in 2004

Racist and anti-Semitic violence in France nearly doubled in 2004, hitting its highest level in a decade and showing no sign of slowing, according to a study to be published Monday.

Jews and Muslims were the main victims of 1,565 recorded threats and violent attacks in 2004, up from 833 a year earlier, according to the National Consultative Commission of Human Rights annual report, which was being submitted Monday to Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

It was the highest recorded number of attacks since 1994, said the report, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press.

Anti-Semitic acts rose to 970, compared with 601 the year before, the report said. Most attackers were from an "Arab-Muslim background," the newspaper Liberation reported.

Schools were an area where anti-Semitic incidents were "very present," the report noted, adding that "anti-Semitism is becoming established in a continuous and lasting manner."

Threats and attacks against Muslims more than doubled to 595 last year, up from 232, with the majority committed by far-right supporters.

The report underlined a "re-emergence of the far right" in France amid domestic debates on immigration and secularism at school as well as EU-wide concerns about whether to admit Turkey into the European Union and the fear of terror attacks by Islamic fundamentalists.

Anti-racism is a racist code phrase for anti-white. There was a story just a few days ago about Muslim thugs attacking and robbing white students who were participating in demonstrations in France. Do you think those mass attacks will show up in "hate-crime statistics"?

Of course, we all know who can't be trusted to play the white man with Johnny Foreigner: it's the working class, isn't it? That idle, boozed-up, aggressive white working class who are the only thing standing between this divided hellhole and life as one long Nescafé ad, with the residents of Hampstead giving high-fives to cheery old African gents in the dappled sunlight. That the working class might have a thoroughly legitimate reason for becoming more agitated about immigration than the tolerant middle class, with their health insurance, private schools and comfy cars, is never considered by these usually oh-so-caring types. Instead, anti-racism has become yet another stick for the ruling class to beat the working class with. ~ Julie Burchill

"Anti-racism", and the policies of immigration needed to justify it, are mainly tools to keep the ruling class in power, indeed they are the "nuclear option" of social dominance, one that inevitably ends, and has been engineered to end, in the death of those it is used against.
