Vote: Should Schiavo be placed back on feeding tube?
(Excerpt) Read more at msnbc.msn.com ...
Currently 61% No. 39% Yes. Unbelievable.
Not really. I've been listening to WGST's call-ins in Atlanta this morning. Generally a reliable pro-Republican bunch of callers, but not this morning. The standard argument: If I were in that shape, I'd want somebody to finish me off, and nobody better stop them.
The media is telling people she's brain-dead, so what do you expect.
Most people would abort or euthanize themselves if you pose the question a certain way, they have so little regard for life.
MSNBC must have gotten the result they wanted because I could not find the poll.
done, same 39-61.
Lying there in a bed, brain DEAD, is life? Just a life support system for organs but never ever again ENJOYING life? I hope YOU are never in that position.
Never mind.
Found it.
241,000 votes. Yeah, right.
I'm really not surprised. Look at how few protestors have been present at the hospice. While the rhetoric on this issue has been loud and fervent, if the Terri crowd can only get a couple dozen protestors to stand outside the hospice, they're not going to win this one.
I predict that the Federal judge assigned to this case will rule that there is no need for federal oversight and will deny the request for a federal hearing.
It will then go to an appellate court, which will decide the same way.
The SCOTUS will refuse to hear the case.
First off, she's not 'brain dead'.
Second she is not on 'life support for organs'. She has a 'feeding tube'.
Thirdly she is not 'lying there'.
She sits upright and responds to people around her, including limited speech.
Culture of Death.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
she's not brain dead, and probably not even in a persistent vegetative state. finding out what she would have wanted is more important than what we would want in a similar situation.
Yes, I think though that when you see things like this, you understand that Nazi Germany didn't happen in a vacuum, and could happen again at any time.
I was posing a question in regards to post #3. Maybe YOU should read the POSTS before flapping off.
Agreed. Except the ones who want that NANNY Gov't. They'll win the battle for Schiavo and lose the war for the rest of us. They are thinking emotionally and not logically on this issue.
As I have said before, unless YOU WERE THERE AND HEARD HER WISHES, you have NO business here. It is between her HUSBAND, who is the NOK, Terri, and God. NOT her parents who have no LEGAL, read this MARRIAGE, right or claim.
You may not like that but too damn bad. That's the system.
There are no words to describe the contempt one feels for the caretaker who would condemn a human to that type of ruination. Her hands might never be normal now. A few minutes a week would have prevented the damage.
And what kind of nutcase puts a human in hospice for years and years. Hospice is a 6 month, end of life facility. It's a death house. Not a long term residence/home. What is going on here? What's really going on?
i would be willing to sacrifice her life if republicans had the courage and balls to write up and pass legislation removing abortion and death penalty, along with social issues like homosexuality from federal court jurisdiction.
but they don't. so to give federal jurisdiction to a handicapped person sentenced to death for the crime of not having a living will is not out of line for me.
