Oh, I hadn't understood that point. I apologize.

Well, if we want to keep people who have no brain activity hooked up for years on machines waiting for a cure, why not. It will be unsustainable financially for Medicaid and the health care community, but I'm sure we'll find a way to pay for it.

And in the interim, I've yet to meet a person who wishes to be kept in a PVS state and hooked up to machines for upwards of 15 years and no end in sight.

Peach, I think you shouldn't use the term "hooked up to machines." While a feeding tube is by the Florida definition equated with a ventilator, most people don't consider the feeding tube in the same category as wires, ventilators, and IV's. It is not a machine.

Personally, I think that this country has the obligation to decide what we as a people think is acceptable, and it shouldn't be decided by the odd judge here or there.
