(Off Camera) So, what was your going-in hypothesis for what kind of condition she was in? And how exactly did you test it?
JAY WOLFSON
Well, I, I, I went in pretty much blindly. I hadn't been following the case at all. I was surprised to get the request to serve in this capacity. I knew a little bit about the, the condition. I did an awful lot of review of, of the literature. I had lots of friends and colleagues at the medical center and around the country who were available to provide me with technical clinical information. And even though I knew what to expect, in terms of persistent vegetative state, when you walk in and she is awake, her eyes move, she makes noises. And sometimes she's asleep, and she's not wakeable from that sleep in many instances. So, she goes through these cycles of sleep, wakening, making noises. And sometimes those noises take the form of, of what sounds like laughter or crying. And that can be disconcerting.

(Off Camera) Now, I have to say, to a layman's ear, Dr. Wolfson, that does sound like she's responding to her father.

I heard those noises a lot, as, as well, George, I have to tell you. And the first time I heard them, I was a bit taken aback. She makes those noises, oftentimes, when nobody's in the room. She makes those noises in response to people asking her questions when I was there and sometimes not. I spoke with the police officers who had been sitting outside the room, many of them for months, who had observed her, who had interacted with her, with the staff at the hospice. These really caring, loving people. Hospice staff are amazing folks who would come in, and as I did, they would hold her hand. They would stroke her hair. I'd, I held her, her, her head in my hands. I would look in her eyes. But the noises that you heard would, would occur randomly, as opposed to in response to, to the stimuli that I observed.
No way he can state this as established. As his impression is one thing. As stated it is a glib lie.
