By the time the judicial process is done it will be too late..can't he do something now?
Well, he does represent the Executive branch. What perspective do you think he should use?
George W. Bush Rules!!!
Couldn't he simply issue some sort of executive order?
About all Bush can do is title her an enemy combatant, arrest her and have her shipped to a Military Base for confinement.
Do you mean...
President Bush just stated that he WANTS for this to go through the judicial process, BUT that he WILL look at all options from AN EXECUTIVE BRANCH PERSPECTIVE!
I am hoping this is a good sign!
Walk the talk, Mr. President. Walk the talk.
I suspect that he could order her arrested as a material witness in an investigation.
Major Bump
I hope he takes out the kangaroos in the FLSC and some other judges along the way. The majority of Fla. voters sure as heck fail to do it when called upon. [A bit of sarcasm used]
Bush has to be very careful and he's right. I don't want the judicial branch legislating and I don't want the executive branch stepping into the judiciary.
The Governor of Florida should be doing this. Not the President.
I know that some of you may take this the wrong way and I'll be flamed like I died and went to he**.
But I just want to look on the other side of the coin. Suppose my directive says that I want hydration and a feeding tube and all the life saving options I can have. Now, my family doesn't want to see me suffering like that and decides to override my wishes and have me removed.
Don't I want the same steadfastness in that respect as seems to be in this case? Do I really want my wishes to be overridden by well meaning relatives and a blind justice court system?
I know, I know, Terri did not have written instructions, but the point I am trying to make is that I want the courts and the family to have their hands tied and my wishes be the ones that are tantamount.
I'm not looking at this from Terri's point of view, I am looking at it from a societal point of view.
Amen!
Can the judges finish the farce and facade now?
Jeb needs to direct Division of Children and Family Services to go in and take custody of Terri while DCF conducts its investigation of allegations of abuse at the hands of Michael Schiavo.
DCF takes custody away from abusive or negligent legal guardians ALL THE TIME. Perfectly legal, and in this case, the right thing to do.
It's unfortunate.... but Terri is being used in this for the big picture. Maybe that was God's plan all along. Who knows.
Coalition Calls Upon Bush to Save Schiavo's Life by Using Police Powers
Press Conferences in Washington and Tallahassee on March 23 at noon.
WASHINGTON, March 23 /Christian Wire Service/ -- The 11th Hour Coalition to Save Terri Schiavo's Life will hold simultaneous press conferences -- Wednesday, March 23 -- at 12 noon in Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee, Fla.
This ad hoc partnership of religious and political organizations -- which will gather in front of the White House and the Florida governor's mansion -- will call on President George W. Bush and Gov. Jeb Bush to use their executive powers to protect Terri Schiavo from starvation.
"There are two people in the United States who can save Terri Schiavo's life right now. The president of the United States and the governor of Florida have the authority to use the police services at their disposal to take Terri into protective custody, restore her food and hydration, and arrest anyone who would interfere," said Dr. Paul Schenck, executive director of the National Pro-Life Action Center on Capitol Hill. "For the sake of Terri's life, we cannot afford to wait while the courts dither over jurisdiction."
