I think the only thing Clinton got half-right was the Kosovo campaign, right because Milosevic was a maniac and a menace, wrong because Bubba was afraid to send in ground forces, and instead sent in the UN - who as it turned out, could not be trusted to protect Kosovar Serb minority (ironic, isn't it!).

Bush did everything right that Bubba did wrong, he sent in ground forces, giving the UN only a marginal role in Iraq - the result - ALL Iraqis (except terrorists and Baathists) are being treated equally and fairly.

The Left moan about America being the World's police force, just because it is only one country out of 200, with unprecedented military force, while they say that's the UN's job, because it is international, but, and it is possible that one country with global military superiority, could under different circumstances be dangerous - the simple fact is that America is a democracy, constitutional republic, if you like - therefore accountable, therefore under scrutiny, unlike the UN: undemocratic, unaccountable and inscrutable!

That was Governor Bush's position in the 2000 presidential campaign against Gore--Clinton had done the right thing in stopping Milosevic, but should have kept ground troops on the table.

Clinton trumped up the war in the Balkans to appease the terrorists. He expected they would then stop attacking us and that Arrafat would take the fat deal we offered him called the Oslo Accord. After all, Clinton sent James Carville to Israel to help elect Barak just for that purpose. Clinton expected to get a Nobel Peace Prize for that. That was to be his legacy.

Genocide and ethnic cleansing by Milosevic was claimed in the media for weeks before Clinton acted. No mass graces nor other evidence of that has ever been found. This was Clinton's war, by Clinton and for Clinton, and we are now reaping the costs.
