That makes sense too. Respect the enemy, despise a traitor. The only thing is he did not mean to harm the US, just wanted to help Israel. If his info got into the enemy hands, he did not intend it this way.

I have to take issue with this comment as well. Pollard was out to help Pollard. He had a cocaine habit that needed to be fed. He just used the excuse of helping Israel to get his hands on some cash.
I can't for the life of me understand how his supporters can be so naive. I would hate to think that this was just about manintaining the ability to spy on the USA; meaning that taking care of your spies makes it easier to recruit new spies.
