..the Times consistently ignored or buried such reports until it was too late..I guess that news just wasn't fit to print!

One prisoner died after 2 1/2 hours, the other after 3 1/2 hours of agony. Then a young scientist, Dr. Lee was rewarded with a medal and promotions for his role in these successful experiments. Twenty-five years later, he expressed no remorse, but his recall of details and dates make him a credible, if frightening, witness. China's R&D lab continues its grisly work.
It is interesting how much communists hate Christians, as opposed to any other faith, even with Islamic rebels within their borders.

I noticed this little "tidbit" in the text and checked it out..
He worked with one team that produced bogus Japanese diplomatic passports used by agents to smuggle aboard the bomb that brought down Korean Airlines Flight 001.
Here are some particulars about that incident..
29 November 1987--A Korean Air Lines Boeing 707 was destroyed in a bombing by two North Korean agents. The two planted a bomb aboard the jet and deplaned in Abu Dhabi. The plane exploded en route to Bangkok at about 11:30 AM while over the Andaman Sea, killing all 115 aboard. The agents were arrested in Bahrain but consumed poison concealed in cigarettes. The male died, but the female survived and later implicated North Korea in plotting the bombing. [12] Fatalities: 115.
