Michael Schiavo lawyer on board of directors of Terri’s hospice
CFP ^ | March 25, 2005 | Judi McLeod

Tragic that some of the most compelling facts in the Terri Schiavo case didn’t emerge before she reached death’s door.

While the mainline media was probing whether the world’s most famous hospice victim had really told husband Michael she would not want to live in a persistent vegetative state, it completely missed the ties of Michael Schiavo’s lawyer to the very hospice where the life-and-death drama played out.

See The Proof Today! From February 13, 1997 to about April 26, 2001 Attorney George Filos was listed as a member of the Board of Directors for "The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast" on the non-profit’s annual reports.

Suncoast operates the hospice where Terri Schiavo has been held.

One doesn’t have to rely on the annual reports of the hospice where Terri Schiavo was left to die for proof of Filos’ board membership. It is stated in the author’s description in the George Filos book, Litigation as Spiritual Practice.

It was in the summer of 1998 when Filos filed the first lawsuit to withdraw food and water from the disabled Terri Schiavo.

The chronology of events is as follows: "Filos becomes Michael Shiavo’s lawyer and files the petition. Then the law in Tallahassee gets changed. The Schiavo case gets heard. In that order." (The David Allen Show).

Surely it’s important to look at who lobbied for changing the law on the books to make food and water be defined as "artificial" life support.

In 1999, House Bill 2131 was introduced for the Florida Elder Affairs and Long-Term Care Committee.

Representative Gus Michael Bilirakis, who also lists himself on the Suncoast Hospice Board of Directors, lobbied on Bill 2131.

It is difficult to understand why the mainline media did not bring these facts before the public in reporting . . . .

What are you saying? Are you suggesting that the FEDERAL program called Medicaid is overseen by FEDERAL regulations and backed up by FEDERAL laws that have the power of FEDERAL enforcement to prosecute violaters in FEDERAL courts and put them in FEDERAL prisons? /sarcasm

What is your point?

I was pointing out most in hospice are covered by medicare and it pays the bills. I guess medicaid does too.

This sure needs to be investigated. And so do all the conflict of interest cases. And Jeb Bush and others who could have but would not save Terri need to be reminded continually of her.

The conflict of interest involved in killing Terri is getting so complicated that charts will be needed.

She was "legally terminal" when she was admitted. The prognosis of terminal was based on a scheduled natural death by dehydration.

Oh my gosh. I that horrific or what?

Is this your interpretation of how hospice's now take in non terminally ill or is this a fact, written somewhere? I thought in Florida is was the law, now, that if someone who is mentally disabled shows NO SIGNS of improvement (even tho they may have not had access to therapy or new testing in TEN YEARS...as was Terri's plight) then they could go ahead and STARVE AND DEHYDRATE that person to death...

One good thing that has happened.

The Schindlers can stand in the light, evidenced by the beautiful service held in Jacksonville for them....a link to this story on the Teresa Marie Schindler thread...and face the American public with their heads high, knowing they worked their hearts out to save their daughter from an unnecessary death of starvation and dehydration.>

Michael has to hide. As does his wife and felos and mary labyak and all of the death mongors who killed Terri.

The FREEDOM that michael schiavo, Mr. 666, Mr. Cruel, Mr. Sadist, Mr. controller, Mr. 'coward' LEVELED upon TERRI for so many long and suffering years.....NOW HAS TO LIVE THE SAME WAY HE ORDERED TERRI TO LIVE.

That is a justice earned and being delivered now.

All---

There is another freak who has tried to do what michael did to Terri...with circumstances very different, but which prove living wills hold no water...LITERALLY.

Go to this thread...running now...and meet another monster.

" Closest kin prevented from visiting 'grandma' (Mae Magouirk) "

The Hospice Foundation of America needs to be investigated.......NOW!

"Why should we be freaked out by Felos membership on the Board?"

Conflict of interest.

COnflict of interest with whom? And how does it affect the case? He is already an advocate for Michael and his determination to see his wife die, so how does being on the board of the hospice affect anything?

I read on the Internet (briefly) that Greer's wife is also on the board of directors of the hospice. I only saw it once. Is that true?

Thanks for sharing your research information.

Thank you for the info.

Also I read somewhere that Felos was not his original last name.

I think someone was quoting from his book.

It's "written" on a case-by-case basis. If a doctor certifies the patient as terminal (and that determination can be due solely to a decision to withhold food and water, with no underlying medical condition such as cancer or disease), the patient is admissible to hospice, and the hospice is eligible for federal monies.

Same thing. The patient would live for an indefinite period if fed, but is deemed to be legally terminal by the decision to withhold food and water.
