This whole thing brings back to may bad memories. My brother was in almost an identical situation. My mother tried to get guardianship from my SIL because she had stuck him in a horrible nursing home where he lost tons of weight and got bedsores. She never even went and visited him. Once she got her money from the lawsuit, fortunately she immediately turned him over to my mother and divorced him, remarrying almost immediately. Unfortunately, by then it was too late for therapy to help. He died about thirteen years later of other causes. My children know this so this has given them additional insight.
