SPECIAL REPORT #1 - OIL-FOR-FOOD INVESTIGATION
Roger L. Simon ^ | March 27, 2005 | Roger L. Simon

This blog has new information from sources close to the investigation of the United Nations Oil-for-Food Scandal by Paul Volcker's Independent Inquiry Committee. After some delay, the committee is releasing its preliminary results at noon Tuesday. This report may reveal, among other things, startling information tending to indicate Secretary General Kofi Annan had more knowledge of, or was closer to, his son Kojo's activities with Cotecna - the company whose role in the scandal seems so pervasive - than previously thought.

The committee has been interviewing Pierre Mouselli, a businessman in Paris who was Kojo's business partner. Their relationship started in 1998 when then 45-year old Mouselli met young Kojo (then 23) at a Bastille Day Party in the French Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria. Mouselli, who has been a cooperative witness and is not under investigation himself, has told the committee numerous interesting things, which deserved to be followed up, They include:

1. Previously unrevealed private meetings between Kojo and two separate Iraqi Ambassadors to Nigeria, arranged by Mouselli in or about August 1998. At these meetings Kojo presented the business card of Cotecna, which subsequently won the lucrative oil inspection contract for Oil-for-Food. Cotecna had previously been blacklisted from doing business in Nigeria for alleged arms trafficking.

ANYTHING that happened under Clinton's watch is sure suspicious to me. If the paper trail leads back to him, I won't be surprised.

It doesn't matter WHO is in charge of the UN! The CORRUPTION is world wide as the National and World leaders that we have today have none or very weak redeaming qualities such as Honor and Virtue.

The US MUST get out of the UN and the UN MUST get out of the US! There is no other way to correct this situation. The US citizen cannot allow this government to support an International Organization of Gangsters that have caused such disruption in the world. Their greed has caused our sons and daughters to go to war and bleed on foreign soil again.

If these countries would have supported the sanctions, there is no way the regeim of Saddam Hussain could have survived to butcher the Iraqi people. We as Americans grieve for the loss of fellow citizens, but the depth of the Iraqi people's greef is unfathomable.

This government that we elected last September, refuses to protect our borders, and has yet to remove the Activist judges from the benches of our courts. When will this Republican President get it through his thick skull, he has taken an oath, and although he may not take that oath serious when it comes to the Borders of the United States or the removal of these Judges, we the people DO!! Do your Duty!

Paul Volcker's Independent Inquiry Committee

This is an oxymoron. Having Paul Volcker investigate the UN is like having a fox investigate an incident in a henhouse. Don't expect any startling revelations.

His investigation has been roundly criticized for being too timid and too slow. Congress has been pushing the ball on this. We'll know more Tuesday, but Volkers reputation has taken a real beating on this IMO. Hope he redeems himself and Kofi falls on his sword.

...and Kofi falls on his sword..."

That would be too good for that bastard. Regardless, as I have said a thousand times here in the last several years, if I were W, I would issue an executive order that the UN building be evacuated and bring in the Army Corps of engineers and implode that excuse of a structure for communications in the World body. I've been there, I've seen Security Council meetings. My daughter-in-law is an interprator. She says it's a joke. She quit right after 9-11.

The problem is it's not just Kofi. Damn near the whole thing has been corrupted.

I'm in total agreement with you. If I were W, I'd issue an executive order and have that building evacuated, and have it imploded within a month. I've been following this UN crap for years... and we pay 20-25% of the bills. I could go on but I need to end my rant.

Probably not. Only from England, Wales, Canada and the United States for seven generations that I can trace. We folks from the United States Revolution are really stoooopid.
