...""getting rid of" those individuals who are no longer considered useful or desirable..."

How do you figure? The government should never have gotten involved in this matter to begin with. My question to every reader on this forum and I respect a great many on here for teaching me many things about politics and more, but which one of you would trade places with her and lie in bed for 15 years incased in a body which wil wither away and never be able to enjoy life like God intended. This bothers me to no end to see Christians carrying on like her death is going to be the end of her, that she will no longer exist. Where is your faith in the promise of an everlasting eternal life without pain, sorry, sickness or death? I just don't get it anymore. What I see is lack of faith spread all over the national news. I'm done now and will not go on about this anymore.

Is your thought process really this confused? The question is not whether one would "trade places with" her but whether one would prefer death to her status. Of course no one would trade places with her.

But heck, I wouldn't trade places with someone who had the flu, a cold, or a hangnail. This is not an argument for killing that person.

The government should never have gotten involved in this matter to begin with.

If the government were not involved, Terri Schindler might still have a chance to live. She is being put to death by order of a government agency, a state court. You do know that the courts are a branch of the government, don't you?

The problem here is that one branch of the government has become abusive, and the other branches have failed to exercise their powers of restraint and establish some kind of checks and balances against this abuse. So "the government" has been involved from the beginning. The wheels have come off the system in this case because one branch is egregiously abusing a citizen of this land (i.e., killing her), and the normal system of checks and balances has broken down. The danger then becomes one of tyranny, wherein a branch of government becomes the arbiter of what had been heretofore an inalienable right.
