Guiliani's Words Used Against Him
NY Post ^ | 3/30/05

It's called "The Quotable Rudolph Giuliani," but it's really a new national effort to derail any hope the former New York City mayor has to become the Republican presidential candidate in 2008.

Amassed by New York Conservative Party activist George Marlin, the four-page document contains a series of liberal policy statements attributed to Giuliani going back to 1989, when he first ran for mayor.

Looks to me like these cowards are afraid of Rudy and are resorting to dirty tricks! These kind of conservatives are worse than Democrats!

Let me see? Guiliani is pro-abortion, anti-2nd Amendment and pro-homosexual. Am I leaving anything out? So, that makes me a "bad conservative" because I'll never cast a vote for this guy?

Sorry, but I have a mind and I use it to evaluate the positions of these folks running for office and vote accordingly.

I would never vote for Giuliani if he were to somehow become the Republican candidate for President. He is a RINO.

I agree with you about the dirty tricks, but honestly, what hope does Rudy have for winning over the Conservative base? I say not much. Moreover, Rudy is really reaching in trying to go from mayor to POTUS. If the NY State Republican Party had any guts it would push Pataki out of the way and run Rudy for Governor. Otherwise, Rudy should run for the Senate against Hillary and gain some kind of national office first, then run for POTUS later.

How does it constitute "dirty tricks" for conservatives to let fellow conservatives know what Rudy has said over the years? If Rudy is going to run for any political office as a Republican, he will have to explain his policies and pronouncements to Republican voters.

Are they making the quotes up?

If not, it’s not a dirty trick and I thank them for compiling the accurate information.

I would not vote for Giuliani in the primaries, but would certainly vote for him if he were the Republican candidate. I do not agree with him on some positions--but he is opposed to judicial activism--and will nominate conservative judges.

I have a serious question, although it may seem frivolous. There's some kind of annual political "revue" in NYC, in the nature of a satire. I know that often mayors make appearances, and once Rudy showed up in drag. Again, the event is understood to be all in fun, and it was pretty funny. I admire Rudy, but I wonder if this would be used against him also. (I only skimmed the article, so maybe it has been dredged up already.) Like it or not, I do not think Rudy could win the GOP presidential nomination. Just my opinion of what WILL happen, not necessarily what I think should or should not happen. I still think the Republicans have a good field of possible candidates, and 2008 is still a bit far away.

How many times do we have to lose confidence in our own conservative values and nominate a wishy washy Republican before we learn better? Was Bob Dole not a good lesson for us? The last time a conservative Republican lost the race was Goldwater and that was over 40 years ago. We win with solid conservative candidates not pseudo Republicans like Guiliani.

Guiliani dresses like a woman all the time. Not that there's anything wrong with that:

Since when is it a dirty trick to accurately quote a person's own statements?? The Democrats, FYI, make things up out of whole cloth (or thin air, whichever you prefer). Guiliani's record speaks for itself--and the words are LIBERAL. I don't care if he calls himself a Republican or not.

Listen its done its a NY tradition and all in good fun. Why should it be used against him? If you seem to forget Colin Powell put on a hard hat and sang "YMCA". Would we use that against him and say he's gay because he sang a song about a place where gay men can stay? I don't think so. Guilaini is hated by most Freepers anyway.

Why does this guy have to do put out a book quoting Guiliani? Guiliani is not running for any office at this point and may not. Instead of concentrating on Hillary and whoever else is running, they have to bash Guiliani who is not even running right now. The NY Conservative Party has to put out a book on his quotes for fear that he might run for what purpose? We had Rudy for 2 terms as Mayor. We know him and know exactly what he has said during those two terms. Now I know why the NY Conservative Party is a big joke and is disappearing into the woodwork.

That's all we need to know about this RINO piece-of-crap.

I wouldn't vote to make him dog-catcher in some little po-dunk town, much less mayor of my city, governor of my state, or PRESIDENT of the United States.

Nice, very nice affirmation of conservatism, EM.

When Rudy was fellating the priapic NYC vote to run for Mayor back then, his ultra-liberal positions on abortion, gay rights, and gun-grabbing did the trick and he was elected to office.

But this is the age of the Value Voter. Even lefty Hillary is slithering to the right.

Rudy is a fish out of water in today's political climate. He's going nowhere.

These are really new words to an old tune. Whenever the MSM doesn't like somebody, they set out on a vendetta. Remember how they went after Goldwater and said the first thing he would do in office was trigger a nuclear war? They said it long enough and often enough that soon the electorate believed it. Just like Joseph Goebbels. And they elected that moron Johnson.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble.

Rudy may be many things, but conservative he's not!

These kind of conservatives are worse than Democrats!

Many politicos who claim to be Republicans are actually thinly veneered Democrats.
