But there ARE unexpected bright spots! I'm married to a college professor who is a democrat and who would describe himself as a liberal. But he made two mistakes. 1) He married a conservative. 2) He developed the ability to think independently, rationally, and logically long ago. So, when his conservative, logical and rational wife explains all sides of the issues to him, he is able to see clearly. He is accused by his peers at the lunchtable sometimes of being corrupted and blinded by his wife. Of course, they never stop to see their own biases...

I could have given them the same conclusion for only half of the $5 million it costs them to study this issue.

Odd. I remember reading on engineering.com about a poll done how how engineers voted in '04: 55% Bush vs. 33% Kerry. I was holding out hope that that engineering, math, and physical science professors were rational and logical.

Yeah, I guess I was in denial.
About half of my engineering professors had a real job on the side, consulting or something. I trusted those a lot more because they could actually apply what they were teaching - and probably make more money at it than they did teaching.

Oh come on, I don't buy this. Next you are gonna tell me the media is run mostly by liberals!

I was holding out hope that that engineering, math, and physical science professors were rational and logical.I remember Carl Sagan, an exceptional scientist - he passed away some time ago - and he was just as full-blown liberal as he was smart.
It seems odd, but I suppose it depends less on one's intelligence than his understanding of and ability to deal with the real world. But it's hard to understand why someone intellectually endowed would hate America and want to destroy her.

hmm there is a correlation between people being professors and being liberal. Since Professors are in a profession that demands a high level of intelligence, is it possible that this simply means that most smart people agree with liberal philosophies?
Since intellectual pursuits often demand little in the way of physical effort, one could also infer that "Lazy people tend to be liberal".
Now this does not explain why field workers and other blue collar laborers are traditionally liberal, but then one could assume a bi-modal distribution with the lazy folks and the stupid folks combining to make up a liberal base.

as a teacher at a community college, I take offense to the second comment, at least in my case. I know that there are plenty of incompetant teachers out there. But I think it should be "Them that can, and choose to help others instead." At least in my case thats true.

Crazy Liberals always thinking they can change the world with words instead of bombs. Or Socialist captured Democratic Party following the steps laid out by Communist Russia decades ago and promised us by Nikita Krushev when he banged his shoe on the UN podium and yelled: "We will bury you within 50 years and we will not have to fire a shot!"
Some of the listed points, found later, were:
Infiltrating our schools, destroying the fabric of our society thru' destroying our music, art, literature, etc ---sound familiar?
