Away from it all, taking it nice and easy is just how Terry Green likes to spend his time on his ATV in the deserts west of Tucson.
"We've hardly ever run into anybody else riding quads out here, Green said. "We're not out here turning donuts and whatnot, we're out here kind of sightseeing."
Green has known these deserts for decades, but that doesnt mean hes letting his guard down. He carries both a pistol and a rifle when he rides.
"It's like the Boy Scouts. Be prepared. Usually you have weapons, you don't need them. It's when you don't have weapons you wish you did, Green said.
A few weeks ago, Green wasn't sure whether he would need his guns or not when he met something he had never seen before head on.
"We basically came face to face, they stopped, we stopped, just for a moment I think the driver thought I was Border Patrol and half the people jumped off the truck and headed north, the other half headed south, Green said.
Green estimates there were as many as forty people who gathered back to the truck, and let him take this picture to the left. He believes they were illegal immigrants.
"What else would they be? There weren't 40 of them out there in a pickup truck for a picnic, Green said.
Green's encounter was peaceful, but, it still illustrates his concern about what's going on in the deserts outside of town, and the safety of those who choose to go out there.
"What if these had been drug smugglers? That would have been a whole different scenario, Green said.
With all those possibilities, Green still keeps criss-crossing the deserts west of town, which are lands he claims just as much right to as anyone else.
"I'm not much at running away from a fight. What are you going to do? I'm not going stay home in my backyard, Green said.
Especially when he's just as much at home in a backyard open to everyone.
Green said that he tried to contact authorities after seeing the truckload of people; however, he was out of cell range. The U.S. Border Patrol has a number to call to report illegal immigrant smuggling, at
1-877-USBP-HELP.
that's a savvy smuggler - he knows that if he gets busted, his vehicle will be confiscated. He's got cargo worth about $40K, and, if he gets caught, might see a little jail time and lose his $500 truck.
With your help, thousands of lurkers will see these actual pictures of our open border with Mexico, and how casually we are being invaded by hoards of criminals.
Travis has already served his country as a Navy SEAL. Which branch of the military did you serve in?
Nothing "supposed" about it and you know that. 1.1 million apprehended in 2004, 40% of those in the Tucson BP sector. Over 400,000 illegal entrants turned back, a fraction of the total that cross.
To the Criminal Alien Lobby, the U.S. Constitution is just "rhetoric."
Terry Green should be more concerned about using his real name, if that was his real name. Bold or threatening? (Not the illegals, but their 'handlers'.) Some of the people who traffic these people over the border don't exactly 'play nice'.
Actually, if it still runs with all those guys on board, well, the truck company could be proud of how tough it's truck is!
Even that statistic is meaningless, since Border Patrol policy is just to feed them a meal, and drop them back off at the nearest border crossing, so that they can try again and again until they succeed.
Estimates of the "success rate" for one crossing are about 80 to 90%. So even if the Border Patrol sends you back, the cumulative success rate after 2 or 3 attempts is nearer to 99%.
That is, when being returned to Mexico, the jumpers don't go home to Jalisco or Chiapas. They just regroup and try again.
If the USBP apprehension rate is 20%, (a charitable guess) then multiplying that fraction a few times shows that in reality, the Border Patrol doesn't "stop" any crossers at all. They only delay and inconvenience them on their journey to America.
Rifle and pistol on ATV outings in the desert.
I see you're back doing what you do best--adding absolutely nothing to the discussion.
I hope you're right. It's gotten that bad, like something out of an old western with a modern twist.
U.S. Constitution Article 4 Section 4:
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,
I would be proud to stand with Travis and protect the borders, even if it means accidently benefiting wimpoid pear-shaped ninnies like you.
It really is like an invasion.
I think that model pickup is only rated for 35 illegals, tops.
Why do you think nothing ever get done to secure the borders?
