We are not a nation of mob rule, where a handful of people who weren't elected by anyone and representing only themselves can start implementing their brand of domestic policy. I am not convinced that we've exhausted all possible electoral and judicial means to fix this problem. I'm not convinced the government isn't doing all it can. And I'm not convinced that the minutemen have the country's best interests at heart.they have as much right to express their dissent as anyone else, and there is plenty to compain about. Sure there are electoral and judicial means, but they are either not being pursued or have been tried and failed. We need to keep pursuing those options, of course. I am convinced that the govenment is not carrying out its duty. I see the continuing flood of illegals and I also see the govt rubber-stamping tourist visas so that people can overstay them and stay in the country. The govt is breaching its duty if not violating the law outright. It can do a lot better, but not if the public is complacent about this problem.

I just happen to suffer from the delusion that this country was founded to provide liberty and justice for all who seek it. so let's let them all in, then? Is that the solution?

Roberto, the rapist, Pilar, the prostitute, Ana Maria, the alcoholic, Denise, the drug addict, Pedro, the pedophile, Manuel, the molester, ........how could I forget Chucho, the kidnapper. After all, Mexico ranks 2nd worldwide in that particular crime category and are quite creative with their product offerings if you ever need that kind of a service. Nice to know that Mexico is competitive and innovative and provides work for its people in some industries. And it is also an industry which exports, which makes it even more attractive to Vicente Fox and Co.

Sadly, Blackjack Pershing is long gone and so is Zachary Taylor (One of my personal heros BTW). Bump for old Zachary! One of my heroes as well as his son Richard.

Hey, they stay on their side of the border and we stay on ours. Problems solved.

Just want to respond to your preference for losing to the democrats to "straighten out" the republicans. I've lived through this in ny town and in my state, and neither one will ever be republican again. You don't turn this great nation over to irresponsible leftists because the republicans aren't perfect. That means threatening our national security, and injustice in the courts for at least a generation. God forbid!

"The Mexican military is on stand-by," reports NBC's Tucson affiliate KVOA. "One unit has about a thousand soldiers. They're located just across the border." Good for them! And as long as the greasers stay on THEIR side of the border, we won't have any reason to drop a 1KT shell on them..

I get the feeling you don't get the situation. The minutemen are not a posse, or a vigilante mob. They are normal citizens who are watching the border with cell phones and binoculars, and when they see a crime (illegal border crossing IS a crime) they are going to report it to the proper government agency, just as any good citizen would. What's the problem with that?

If that's all they're doing, I think that's great. But I'm not convinced there won't be a bad apple or two that are itching for a fight. Add guns to the mix and I get a very uneasy feeling. I think what the minutemen are doing is laudable, but I also think they will be attracting the worst elements of all sides of this issue. I don't question the goal, I simply question the method.

Let's start with your selective exegesis of my post. The whole quote was "Are you racists? Of course not." If I didn't know any better, I'd say you worked for CBS the way you took that out of context.
As for your question, I haven't seen such a twisted semantic response since "That depends on what the meaning of is, is."
To: Dead Corpse
Same here DC. I've got a few weeks saved up that I didn't have to use over the election.

Nah - the United States doesn't kill flies and ants; it just places sugar elsewhere and hopes to redirect them.
