Associated Press

BRAINERD, Minn. - Alma Esser gets around in a wheelchair and can't see very well, but the 95-year-old knew exactly what crashed through her bedroom window.

"I knew it was a deer," she said. "It was right in front of me."

Esser was sitting in her living room Sunday when she heard a crash. A few seconds later, the deer wandered into her living room.

Esser made it out of her apartment and yelled for help after the deer got tangled in some curtains. She found a minister who was giving an Easter sermon.

"I said, 'There's a deer in my apartment.' I'm sure he thought I had lost it completely. So I said, 'Go and look' and when he came out he was bug-eyed," Esser said.

The minister found a worker at the apartment complex, but she didn't understand.

"He told her, 'There's a deer in apartment 44,' and the worker said, 'Yes, she's a very nice lady,'" Esser said.

Police arrived with a Taser and got the deer out of the apartment. The deer left behind a broken footstool, couch and needlepoint table. Bloody hoof prints were all over the apartment.

"It looks like a vicious crime scene inside," said Steve Esser, Alma's son.

Workers fixed up Esser's apartment.

Glad to hear the woman is OK. Deer feets can be lethal.

My girlfriend (from at the time) and I were sitting on her back porch at an apartment complex in North Atlanta one afternoon when a deer ran by, jumped the fence surrounding the pool, went for a swim in the pool, managed to get out, lept over the fence again and ran away. This was in one of the most developed and populated parts of Atlanta, with no open woods around for 20 miles in any direction.

I remember back when you actually used to have to hunt to see any deer. Now they want to move in with you.

That strikes me as very funny.

This is one of the main reasons that I keep a high powered rifle in my lap at all times. You just never know.

Besides making it spew deer bombs everywhere as it was having a hear attack, what good would a Taser really be in this situation?

Was that considered "humane"? Why not just open all the doors and wait for him to leave if they don't want to shoot him?

Ok, now someone needs to sue the deer and make it pay for the damage.

Lotsa weird Characters over in Brainerd. You've got that big Paul Bunyan statue. There is also that odd fellow at the car lot who looks an awful lot like the guy from Chicago Hope. Luckily Officer Marge will be on the scene. Now time to drive to Fargo to help my buddy with his wood chipper. Fer shur, you betcha!
