A pet rattlesnake bit its extremely drunk owner once on the finger while the man was playfully flicking its head, then bit him again on the lip and tongue after he attempted to kiss it, reports the Lander Journal.
According to Sgt. Gene Galitz's popular column "CopsCorner," the Lander man, identified as Rattlesnake Bob, was driven to the emergency room at the Lander Valley Medical Center on March 23 by his girlfriend. When he saw a patrol car at the hospital, he refused to get out, saying he hadn't had much luck with cops.
Galitz tried to persuade the man to seek medical attention, but the man refused. Luckily, the snake's bites did not inject venom.
"I'd bet the next morning the snake woke up with a hangover and Rattlesnake Bob woke up wondering who pierced his tongue and forgot to put in the decoration," Galitz wrote.
Something to ponder while having that first cup of coffe.

Probably a "liberal" who thought if you just give a snake enough love and try to "understand" them, they won't bite you.

Apparently the snake is more discriminating than the guy's girlfriend is. I wouldn't want to kiss a drunk either. : )
This dude is very lucky. If the bite was 'wet' and not 'dry' the rattler's hemotoxic/cytotoxic mix would have seriously messed up his face. Chances are some skin would have sloughed off. He is one lucky dude.

A lady here in Arizona was bitten by a rattlesnake, and she mistakenly thought that she had to catch it and take it in for analysis (maybe she was thinking of rabid mammals). It unhinged its jaw and bit her several times on the hand. The TV news showed her hand, and it was all swelled up and looked bruised and very painful. Lesson to be learned - don't mess with rattlesnakes. You would think that would be obvious, but some people are incapable of learning.
Just damn. And no opportunity for a richly-deserved Darwin Award.

When i was young we (family) would go hunting for rattlers on a friend's ranch. That's the only way to "play" with them (rattler at business end of the rifle!).

He was just trying to do his part to stop muddying up the gene pool. He didn't quite make it this time, but I think success is close.
I'm kinda thinking that if this was what started the incident, he got what he deserved. Most of us think - Rattlesnake - and - playfully flicking it's head - don't go well together.
We never have these kinds of accidents at my church.
