"...political divide beween the Front Range and the Western Slope...?
It's a phenomenon. When they read the Pledge of Allegiance on Memorial Day at the veterans' park in Palisade, they always say "under God." Try to stop them? Wouldn't advise it. Too many Winchesters.
Personally, I always wondered how the Front Range got so liberal.

When I arrived in Boulder in 1976, you could still see "Don't californicate Colorado" bumper stickers.

I can only remember meeting a couple of people whose families had been in Colorado for generations.

Lots of people from the SSRC and New Jork, though.
