1. soldiers need a helmet that protects their eyes, face and neck.
2. soldiers need body armor that protects neck, arms, legs, hips as well as torso.
3. soldiers need camouflage garments that goes over the armor, and over the web gear.
4. soldiers need undergarments that work with his movement to ventilate the body to keep him dry and exploit evaporative cooling.
4. soldiers need comfortable clothes when not in combat. For example: a hood on the shirt would be an unforgettable hat, and protect the neck from sunburn or cold.

I'd hate to have to wear all that clothing and armor when out on a foot patrol. Evaporative-cooling underwear is great...if you can run around in your underwear, but with overgarments AND protective armor....well, it won't matter much in the 120 degree desert. You forgot the portable man-pack air-conditioning units.

As for head-gear....one doen't "forget" the headgear and get away with it any more than one "forgetS" his/her weapon. It was a couple of years of civilian life before I felt okay walking around outside without a hat on (as in NOT naked)....but I'm just a reg-following sarge that had reg-following troops...or pushup-doing troops.
