The special prosecutor investigating whether Bush administration officials illegally revealed the identity of a covert CIA operative says he finished his investigation months ago -- except for questioning two reporters who have refused to testify, the WASHINGTON POST is planning to report on Thursday.
Special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald has interviewed columnist Robert Novak, who first published the name of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame, the report suggests.
Fitzgerald is not likely to seek an indictment for the crime he originally set out to investigate -- whether a government official knowingly exposed a covert agent. Fitzgerald may instead seek to charge a government official with committing perjury by giving conflicting information to prosecutors.

I still think it was her husband and he was doing it to hurt Bush.
If you read the Sneate Intelligence Committee report on this and read the whole chapter dedictated to Plame and the Niger Uranium story ...
... you can't help but think that she was a rogue agent who needed to be outed to get her out of the CIA.
She was outed in the name of National Security.
Washington Post is about 12 hours late on this.

Must be out of ankle bracelets, after all, we have to know where that top criminal, Martha, is at all times...
I'll buy that scenario
No liberal, by definition, could ever be an intelligence agent.

This is the first time I ever read anything by this man. I just skimmed the article. When he said the President charged Iraq had tried to buy uranium from Niger--which is absolutely false--I realized he ws too sloppy a researcher to bother reading further. A man who bills himself as an "investigative reporter" and is so monumentally sloppy a researcher is not worth my time or yours.
Whenever I read these sort of stories, my mind translates it to "concoction of suitable story for the masses nearly complete".
by who? and who is going to be charged with perjury?
LMAO!
This investigation is a ridiculous waste of money. What about Sammy Berger stealing classified documents? He was able to plead to a minor charge without explaining what he was doing or who he was doing it for.
"Probe Into Leak of CIA Agent's Identity May Be Complete"
The title alone expresses the MSM's wish that Cooper and Miller be given a bye.
The investigation is not complete.
When Novak published her name in that article, he was apparently "revealing" something that just about everyone inside the Beltway already knew.
When you read the Senate (spelled it right this time) Intelligence Report, the only impression you can get from it is that this Plame chick needed to be gone, no ifs ands or buts.
You rarely see (read) this kind-of-read-between-the-lines criticism of a select individual singled out so blatantly.
Have a read if you don't believe me.
Why anybody gives a turd about this plame birdbrain is beyond me, she was no secret, she was out in the open and she was obviously an idiot, look at the lame-brain she married. The Government needs to drop all charges against Mr. Novak, he was doing us a favor, another so-called secret agent gone a plame, too stupid to keep a secret. We don't need secret agents like la plame or the dirty ugly husband.
Well, color me Senate Intelligence Report deprived.
Do you have a link?
I think that we need to start loudly bringing these issues up again and again...even things like Kerry's promise to sign the SF180....what's happened with that? Unless we bring them up, they fall away. We have to show that even has-beens like Kerry are accountable...after all, he's still a senator.
