OK you are really confusing Iranian people with the turbaned clan who controls Iran. They are not one and the same. You think the mullahs got demoralized "unfairly"? What? The mullahs set foot on the Persian soil running. Their pillage and plunder and murder NEVER seized. PLEASE read the early history of the Iranian so-called "revolution" which I think is a sham word for what really took place in Iran.

Yes, true, Iraq attacked Iran when Saddam saw how the mullahs ravaged the Iranian military of its rank and file. He believed he had the best chance of seizing the oil rich southern region of the country. The summary murder and executions continued until the Iraq invasion. So in a way the war with Iraq put a stop to the killings when the mullahs finally realized their sheer stupidity of their depraved murdering and destruction of the Iranian national army. Don't ever hold a soft spot for that beast which has been nothing but pure evilness.

The religious fervor in Iran has not only gotten milder, it has pretty much departed because of what Islamic extremism is associated with for Iranian people, which is the mullahs' rule and the ruinations, degradation and suppression of Iranians. The people loathe the mullahs and all that they symbolize.

And on the subject of the Shah and Mossadegh, truth and the history of the times is so convoluted and muddied that it is best left to future Iranians to sort that one out and decide who did and meant well for Iran and Iranians. IMO, both Mossadegh and the Shah were patriots caught in international geopolitical machinations much larger than themselves. These internationalists coveted a weak Iran and influence over its politics and internals, for ever.

Why, I find the "subject of the Shah and Mossadegh" very interesting. Fitfy years is enough to sort things through - no reason to wait for the "future Iranians".
