Could it be that the law specifically allows for the Husband to make the decision as a right reserved to the individual under the Constitution?

Conservatives should be relived that the government it self acknowledged that it’s powers were limited by the Constitution, that the Congress the Governor and even the President himself could not over run the legal decision made by a mere citizen.

Somehow "relief" is not what comes to mind when the State has the power to starve its citizens to death.

Nope. The various opinions and pleading make that clear. The object is to discern and apply the patient's wishes.
