Poor liberals. Their groupthink anti-Americanism is coming back to haunt them.
Good. There's nothing better than dealing with a bunch of stupid fanatics who walk into the political meatgrinder at every turn.

Well....it is CBS.

Naturally the media were pi$$ed-off. Who cares? If the media had been advised ahead of the invasion, they (media) would have stationed themselves on the shores of Grenada welcoming with giant spotlights the American troops and then snapped pictures of Americans getting killed. Reminds me of the troops landing in Somalia- spotlights and all.

Does anyone have a link to those posts about the Italian journalist that was shot? I heard that she was a communist, but the search function here sucks.
It's a big deal in Euroland

Yeah, but I remember that those rounds weren't particularly accurate if there was any type of obstruction, such as bush or foliage.
The damage they did certainly negated the need to double tap though.

The M14 kicked ass.
Perhaps the range wasn't needed for awhile, since the function of groundpounding seemed to have changed for a long time into ground units that simply needed firepower to hold off the enemy while they called in mortar/artillery support, but we don't fight much in the jungle anymore, and the M14 would be an asset.
I'm not up on the latest arms - perhaps they have a modern version?

Notice that there were no spotlights when Clinton turned tail and ran out.

I just saw this report and it's just astonishing even for CBS's low standards. I wouldn't doubt if this camera man has other inside contacts feeding each other with information.

"the network said the man was referred to the network by a "fixer" in Tikrit "who has had a trusted relationship with CBS News for two years."
Dan Rathers had a longer "trusted relationship" and he still turned out to be a terrorist best friend.

If Al-Jazeera has been banned from operating in Iraq openly they may have an unwritten agreement with CBS to work together on gathering footage for Al-Jazeera's broadcasts.
Obviously Al-Jazeera is not going to quit covering Iraq and just go away; they are going to get video one way or another.
To: tobyhill
Also, it would seem to me that a urinalist with credentials from an American press operation would have an easier time getting access to operate in and around US units.

I thought it was saying the troops were under arrest. :DYeah. You'd have thunk they would have taken away their guns when they arrested them!

I saw this on the late local news last evening and was overjoyed! It's about time someone noticed how this guy seemed to have foreknowledge of the car bombings where he was taking video. And those troops that shot him should be given bonuses!
This murderous scum, barely vetted by CBS (he was recommended by some person they've worked with for two years), should be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law.

I'm not up on the latest arms - perhaps they have a modern version? Well, modernized anyway. Mainly accuracy upgrades, provision for scope and other accessories, better stocks, etc. AFAIK, they are using the old ones, just refurbished and upgraded. (Practically speaking that means the are using the old receivers, bolt group, gas system and that's about it.
