Tokyo hit by 5-6 quake

5-6 on the Richter scale is a nuisance. 5-6 on the Japanese Shindo scale would mean major damage.

Nothing at the USGS list of most recent earthquakes, and they seem to have included ones past the time of your post.

I wonder what it was they felt in Tokyo.

The 8 and up quakes are newsworthy. Why is the press carrying stories about these little shakers that do not do justice to the moon phase hypothesis?

My mother, who has never been to Japan (nor lived in an earthquake prone region) arrived in Tokyo hours after this earthquake. She'd earlier expressed that she hopes to feel one while she's here.

Epicenter was only 35 miles to the east of Tokyo. USGS's "Did you feel it" page for this event is currently showing a max "felt" intensity of V (moderate shaking, very light damage).
