Kerry cites voter intimidation examples
CNN ^ | 4-10-05

Posted on 04/10/2005 5:16:27 PM PDT by LouAvul

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Many voters in last year's presidential election were denied access to the polls through trickery and intimidation, former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a voters' group Sunday.

"Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated," the Massachusetts senator said at an event sponsored by the state League of Women Voters.

"There is no magic wand. No one person is going to stand up and suddenly say it's going to change tomorrow. You have to do that," he said.

Kerry supporters have charged that voting irregularities in largely Democratic areas made it difficult for voters to cast ballots in the November election. A lawsuit in Ohio cited long lines and a shortage of voting machines in predominantly minority neighborhoods, but the Ohio Supreme Court dismissed the suit.

Kerry also cited examples Sunday of how people were duped into not voting.

"Leaflets are handed out saying Democrats vote on Wednesday, Republicans vote on Tuesday. People are told in telephone calls that if you've ever had a parking ticket, you're not allowed to vote," he said.

Kerry has never disputed the outcome of election, saying voting irregularities did not involve enough votes to change the result. Bush won the pivotal state of Ohio by 118,000 votes, giving him enough electoral votes to win re-election.

Bush supporters have denied using voter intimidation tactics to keep people from going to the polls. A call to the Republican National Committee media office was not immediately returned Sunday.

Think about this. Do we really want idiots like this to have any say in who runs this country? The Founding Fathers were right--only property-owners should be able to vote.

The dims are truly world class nutjobs. So Kerry things 3 1/2 MILLION people were intimidated?! Or perhaps 118,000 in Ohio alone?! Other than in his delusions where's the evidence for MASSIVE intimidation, and why did it take him so long to comment upon it if such a huge percentage of the US population were methodically intimidated?

Okay, now, which Party was saying that it would not be 'fair' to have all voters show a photo ID before they could vote to ensure that "one person one vote" could be documented?

And which party doesn't want the "purple finger" for voters so poll watchers can tell who has already voted?

And they STILL want to claim they aren't complaining?

Will it ever end??

NO.

Imagine John F'in Kerry as President of the United States! Probably the only scarier thing would be imagining Al Gore (or the return of Bubba).

I see cars with their Kerry-Edwards stickers and wonder "what kind of nut-job are you?" You wonder if Demos recognize what awful candidates these losers were...

Actually, this charge is believable - if it was Democrat operatives who were handing out the leaflets and making the telephone calls. It's an old Communist trick (uh, I mean Democrat -- uh, what's the difference, anyhow?). Create the problem yourselves, then accuse your innocent opponents of doing what you yourself have done. Republicans still haven't caught on to the depth of depravity to which the Demos will sink in search of any possible illegitimate advantage.

Kerry also cited examples Sunday of how people were duped into not voting.

He justs spews out his litany of gripes and complaints without providing any actual proof, and the MSM just accepts them at face value and claims that he proved his point. If there were all these leaflets telling Rats to vote on wednesday, then didn't Kerry's people save a few of them? Didn't someone record one of these phone calls telling Rats not to bother showing up?

It was the same thing in Florida after the 2000 election. All we heard was stories about how the cops were camped out at black voting precincts with dogs and fire hoses, and the media here just dutifully reported them as fact, not even caring how ridiculous the charges were.

I have often thought that there should be some kind of simple civics test involved to qualify voters, with questions like: Who is the Vice President of The United States and name any one U.S. Senator, Who is the governor of your state. I would have a small problem with the last one just pronouncing Rod R. Blagojevich.

But then again - I'm a radical.

Ok guys, it's not too soon to start planning for the next election. Obviously we can't use the "vote on Wednesday" trick again as that would be too obvious. We need to come up with something new. Let's start brainstorming and come up with something really original.

Dear P.O.S. Kerry,

The reason you lost...the reason that you got your butt handed back to you is simple.

Those you denigrated...those you lied about to make yourself look important....those who swore that one day you would get yours.....voted in huge numbers to make sure you never got to be President.

Vietnam Veterans.

We haven't forgotten who you are....and we are still out here.

Just in case your ego wants another run at the President's job.

You will never spend a day as President.

Actually, I believe the cleverest prank was the publicity given to the ability to collect finger prints from the voting machine touch screens --- together with voter's "name/address and current photograph"....

Criminals stayed away from the polls in droves -- to avoid being detected, finger printed, photographed and located...

I died laughing when I first heard about the "plot"..

A civics test might not be a bad idea. But I am still not in favor of anyone who makes no contribution to our government having a say in how much of a contribution I am forced to make.

Another idea I have, which I love, is that we all vote on April 15th. If you want more government, send in 50% of your annual salary. If you want less government, send in 20%. See which party wins then.

They can't do it because it didn't happen.

It's funny because the charges they hurled were just so ridiculous and off the wall, yet the press just solemnly reported them all with a perfectly straight face.

I can't even imagine the dumbest, most inbred hick sheriff in Florida actually showing up at some polling place with the pumper truck from the local volunteer FD and his K-9 deputy. All the locals, democrat and Republican, would run that clown out of town and he'd be relieved of his duties by Governor Bush before the sun set. I'm sitting here laughing away at the mental image that created. But the left just accepted it as gospel.

Don't you also like the use of the passive voice? "Leaflets are handed out" or "people are told" with no explanation of who is doing these acts (since, of course, that would require proof and might involve some risk of libel). It reminds me of when Katie Couric or other media airheads use that "some say" stuff.

Funny have Republicans never have trouble voting, and if they do, they certainly do not complain about it like the whiner Dimocrats do. You might want to consider switching parties.
