I am a product of the media. I began my career in radio and became a news director before being hired by a large metropolitan daily newspaper in Southeastern Wisconsin. I also worked as weekend anchor and political reporter for a Denver radio station. Later as the press secretary to the Chairman of the Senate GOP Policy Committee in Washington, I dealt with the media daily for four years. So I am not one to complain about the media as some in the conservative community do.
I am reminded of the story told on many occasions by the marvelous late Black preacher, the Rev. E.V. Hill, when we traveled the country together in 1980. Rev. Hill spoke of a preacher whose bad language was a disgrace to his church. When his cussing became louder and consistently part of his conversation, a group of church elders told the deacon, You have got to do something about the preacher. His disgraceful language is scandalous, especially to the young people. The deacon agreed and subsequently asked the preacher to join him on a fishing trip.

a good read. Thanks.
Why?
Why doesn't the GOP focus on Pelosi's activities? She's gotta have a lot more embarrassing stuff than Delay, and she's a whole lot more of the ideologue than Delay.
Pelosi is not worthy of attention is why. It is like paying attention to a Yorki that is snapping at your heels.
Strategery.
Delay is fine. It is a continuation of how the RATS whine and care about nothing more than regaining power.
In 2006 they will say "see how the republicans act". On the flip side you will get, "see how the Democrats act".
The RATS still think that the MSM is the only media out there.
Good question. I don't know what all the allegations are but if Delay is innocent of these allegations why defend yourself by saying, "well they did it too"? Wouldn't it make more sense to say I'm clean and if you have any charges bring them now or STFU? Wouldn't that put an end to this circus?
She's putting pressure on Delay. Why doesn't the GOP put pressure on her? Look thru her garbage the way she's looking thru Delay's.
But, DeLay and Frist are different critters. Frist is a pansy wuss who is terrified of Fat Teddy and will NEVER do anything to displease him. DeLay, OTOH, is a hard charger and can organize the good guys to confront the dem crapweasel scum.
If we had half the drive and determination leading the good guys in the Senate as we do in the House, we'd have honest judges on every bench and a leg up ffor the next two elections.
Sure, Pelosi is a lying scumbag skank but, so what? It is fun to see her whine about the lack of bipartisanship and then tear into the good guys. She is too stupid and corrupt to know what she is doing. The media has been ordered to treat her like a princess.
I am sick and tired of the "they all do it!" defense. I didn't like it when the Clintonistas used it, and I don't like it now either.
If the media thinks she's a princess, all the more reason to bring her down. Time for the alternative media to make something happen, I say.
Welcome to the real world. About 4 years ago the Bush administration put pressure on RINO Republican Senator Jeffords. The result was Jeffords crossed the isle to make Tom Daschle Majority leader and give the Senate to the Democrats. That was a bit counter productive.
Today there are 6 RINOs that are aligned with the Democrats on the Judicial issue and are winning media support by attacking Tom Delay.
According to your "Brilliant" plan, the thing to do is to hit on them hard enough so they vote to give the Democrats control of the Senate. Perhaps you would like to see the Democrats in total control of the Senate and only liberal judges confirmed. Perhaps you would like Teddy Kennedy to be head of the Judiciary committee.
But that is not my desire. What we need to know is the situation that both Trent Lott when he was Majority leader and now Frist have to face.
The problem is years ago in a fit of democracy the rules of the senate were changed greatly reducing the power of the majority leader. That was largely lead by Republicans so no one would ever have the power that LBJ did when he was majority leader. Under the rules in the 50s LBJ ran the senate with an iron fist. Republicans felt that Iron Fist many times. They didn't want it to happen again so they gave individual senators a lot of power.
That has come back to bite Republicans in the rumple-stilt-skin.
Republicans were so angry at FDR's 4 terms they fixed it so neither Ike or Reagan could server more than 2 terms. The Republicans were so angry at LBJ's tactics in the Senate they fixed it so all Frist or Lott before him could do is ring their hands and try to barter a victory.
The major problem is we are in the last stages of realignment. There was a time when there were many conservatives in the Democratic party and many liberals in the Republican party. No Democratic leader could trash conservatives with out trashing his own party members. The same was true of Republicans. No Republican leader could trash liberals without trashing members of his own party.
We are at a stage where the seats that were once conservative Democrat seats are now in the hands of Republicans. But not all liberal seats are in the hands of Democrats. There are at least 6 very RINO seats. That gives Frist just 49 sure votes.. He needs 51.
It is not to our advantage to force the transition of leftist Republicans to the Democratic party. If we do we will be the minority in the Senate and the Democrats will have a lot more power than they currently do.
It is a fact. Voters tend to re-elect incumbents. There are about 10 Democratic Senators from what have become Republican states. When those liberal Democrats retire, they are very likely to be replaced with more conservative Republicans. There are about 6 Republicans from Democratic states. When they retire they are likely to be replaced with Democrats.
Long term it looks very good for our side. WE will be trading 6 seats for 10.
But we must remember that this is a nation of the people, by the people and for the people. And if the people of Maine and Rhode Island want liberal judges, the senators from those states will work to that end. Senators from liberal states are going to take the side of the liberals.
Members of congress are just like waitresses and waiters. They will serve the people that elected them what ever those people want to be served. It is the way our nation works. The problem occurs in borderline states, and in states where older leftist senators are serving a last term.
If you want to change Chaffee's or Snowe's votes you have to change the predominate view in Maine and Rhode Island or you have to give them something they really want in exchange for their support on some issues.
Frist is reduced as was Lott before him, to finding someway to buy the support of the RINO Senators.
FReegards...MUD
Hell yeah, we do!!
ambrose: "Why?"
'Cuz this is a typical DemonRAT character assassination and any RINO who supports it should be called out as the LOSER Punks they are!!
FReegards...MUD
Yes, we must crush the DemonRATS and grind their bones into dust!!
FReegards...MUD
We already know that Delay broke no laws, but his actions were deemed "unseemly"...all the RATS do exactly the same things they are accusing Delay of doing becuz they ain't ILLEGAL. If the Right buckles on this, they deserve the Mass Exodus of conservatives that will result!!
FReegards...MUD
Yep...he's the best the GOP's got these days and deserves our support!!
FReegards...MUD
Fact is, they all do it 'cuz it ain't ILLEGAL...don't be foolish enuff to fall fer this DemonRAT trick again!!
