BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A U.S. citizen working for a contracting company was kidnapped at a construction site Monday in Baghdad, a U.S. Embassy official said. The embassy would not reveal the name of the American or the name of the company. The contractor's next of kin has been notified.

Oh yes, God please help him. A brother of one of my dearest friends is a contractor in Iraq. Although he's based in Kuwait, he travels intermittently to Baghdad. He mentioned that his family gets so stressed when they know he's going to Baghdad, he doesn't tell them now until he has returned. I'm sure the notified family of this gentleman is horrified. Prayers going out for all concerned.
Do the contractors (eg the brother of your friend) have security services of some sort with them while they work? I've never been able to acquire information on whether the contractors have some sort of private (armed) security service watching their backs. Might you know? Thanks.
Some do, some don't. Some contract workers resent the security they are given. I have a friend doing security work. If the workers ignore the security procedures(or worse, share them with the Iraqis)no amount of security will help. He complains that the workers are his biggest problem right now...
I don't know. I just called my friend's home and got their answering machine. I'll try to find out an answer to your question this evening and report back anything I discover.

I saw them on MSNBC and FOX, so they should be visible to anyone in any state. They very well done "We are Haliburton" type ads that show their employees in Iraq. Very well done.
