U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, a possible candidate for president in 2008, announced today that he is getting a divorce.
Feingold and his wife, Mary, issued a joint statement through the Democrat's Senate office saying they have decided to end their marriage of 14 years.
"We are separating amicably, and intend to remain very good friends," the statement said.
The marriage was the second for both. Feingold has two daughters from his first marriage, Mary Feingold has two sons from hers.
Feingold won his bid for a third term last fall by 11 percentage points in a state that Democrat John Kerry barely carried. Several Web sites have sprung up urging Feingold to run for president, and he hasn't ruled out a race.

I've never understood if a couple were such good friends why they just didn't stay married?

Of course they waited until after he was elected to another 6-year term. His reelection ads starred Russ and his daughter.

Looks like the headline writer ran out of capital (D)s again. It is amazing how often that happens. They never seem to run out of capital (R)s, though

No '08 run for Feingold. A Wisconsin Jew who's twice divorced as the Democrats' candidate? I think not. Hillary here we come!

the clintons do have sex just to different people? (though gratuitous gossip has both interested in similar types of women.)

Corzine dumped his wife, maybe there's something in the water.

I agree.. how passionless must ones relationship have been if you end it and say you will still be good friends?

Probably a Norwood-Dingle type problem.

Good timing, huh? He must have seen her as a liability of some kind. Maybe she's been sipping the sauce, or something.
