Good thing we are buffered by two oceans.

Yes with about 1000 international flights per day crossing both of them.

You folks are way too excited about this. Many of you probably still have basements full of MRE's from the Y2K hubbub.
The US has come a long way since the pandemic of 1914. You'll be able to see how a modern Asian healthcare system like Japan or Singapore is hit before we are. In Vietnam they still drink their own urine.

Besides it is just another reason to live in a red state. We only travel to Walmart.

China started with its bird flu and it's drifted to one of its satellite nations. Now if China would divulge what biological weapon it was working on to originate the bird flu maybe an antidote could be developed.

Naw, I don't see that happening soon enough. Add onto that all the stuff we import etc. I mean it'd have to be real bad to quarentine the nation and then the quarentine could go on for months while we wait for the thing to burn itself out. A national quarentine is no laughing matter and will be for longer than the 14-21 days of incubation as it's being spread in other countries.

Two oceans means nothing in this day of global travel. It meant nothing in 1914 (or whenever that flu pandemic happened) either.

That flu pandemic occurred in 1917-1918 and spread from returning soldiers.

The puzzle was that it attacked the strongest, fittest young people and left the old and children somewhat unscathed.

These deaths are on the hands of all the Jane Fonda types, that wouldn't let us finish the job in Southeast Asia.

Huh? A mess, yes. A pandemic maybe. 40%, I doubt that.

Those walmart shopping cart handles creep me out more than any of this other stuff. Seems like everytime I grab one it feels a little slimy (like from some little snot nosed kid's been cleaning his nose off on it)

Forget the shopping cart handle, what about those serving spoons at Chinese Buffet? Think of all the morons who never wash their hands in the restroom.

He is right, but if this and Marburger (SP?) hit it will kill many thousands, if not millions. The health care system is a lot better but we will be filling holes.

Jane Fonda wouldn't let us finish developing a flu vaccine being put together in SE Asia? Who knew?

Did you forget your sarcasm tag, or are you being serious.

What job would we have done their that when completed would have removed the possibility of a flu pandemic?

Count me confused.

I'm sorry, but most Chinese buffets have the worst crap for food, wouldn't eat there anyway.

But hell, the salad tongs at your local grocery store are in the same boat.

Thats a new one to think about. My wife and I are at the point of not wanting to go out to eat anymore. Its not that were so squeemish, but if you watch people just a little, you see how dirty they are. I used to work in a jail so I am quite aware of dirty people. Money is the dirtiest stuff. Lets just say that we found money during strip searches that is in circulation somewhere. Kids don't put that quarter in your mouth.
