and its all Bush's fault.
With a little help from some corrupt liberal politicos.
What wonderful news.
I knew there was a reason the sun was shining today.

Can the Conservatives provoke an election with a vote of no confidence, or is the power considered to be in Martin's hands, even though the Liberal government is a minority? Will the BQ opt for a new election too? They did extraordinarily well last time, I don't see if they have much more to gain.

Old school political thought in Canada is to do exactly the opposite what the United States would do or does. It's endemic to the point of being used as a means of political attacks i.e. "my opponent wants to do it the US way..." is considered the kiss of death.

Canadian parliamentary system runs based on minority goverment so the party with the most seats gets to control the ministries of government (rather than requiring coalition government to get a majority). That said, it is hard to get your bills passed while in the minority.
Canadian House of Commons Current Party Membership
Bloc Québécois Party 18%
Conservative Party 32%
Independent 1%
Liberal Party 43%
New Democratic Party 6%

Conservatives have to make a plan to break the corrupt stranglehold on the INSTITUTIONS of Canada.
Make a plan so this can never happen again.

Any party can introduce a vote of no confidence. BQ could make even more gains, given what the same poll shows in Quebec:
BQ 50%
Conservative 17.5%
Liberal 15%
(Last election: BQ 49%, Lib 33%, Con 9%)

I won't believe it until I see it. However, I will continue to remain optimistic that the good people of Canada will come to their senses and realize the damage a decade of hard socialism has brought to their country.
A conservative Canada can only help our efforts here in the United States.

Oh, I hope this ain't so.
If Canada goes conservative, then that means all those Hollywood liberals who said they were leaving for Canada since Pres. Bush won, will stay here in the States.
What a depressing thought...and I was having a good day!

Wow, FNC has only been in Canada a short time and already the libs are crumbling. No no wonder they fought so hard to keep it out.
Not sure my above opinion has a shread of fact but it sounds good in my twisted little brain.

I just saw the poll at www.thestar.com
Funny how every demographic has support for the Liberals down except the $100,000+ income earners........
I guess all the high income folks who are conservative already left for the US.

I can see the MSM headlines tomorrow . . . .
"DeLay may have possibly been at the bottom of the leak that sank the liberal boat in Canada. Liberals say the "Hammer" used questionable tactics in having suspicious sources reveal supposed information about liberal government bribery accusations. Sensitive Liberal leader Martin is hurt by the harsh tactics."
